The Witcher 2

Yea i think theres a witcher 2 thread in the PC section, obviously it needs to be moved to the misc section.

I wonder if the PS3 will get the game or if its just gonna be 360 when it comes to consoles?

Good! My PC can handle this game easy, hell, it can handle Crysis 1 on Max settings, but...it's not mine...it's my little brothers. And seeing as how I'm getting my own place this September, I need to leave my parents house...and my brothers computer behind :csad: So many game saves shall be lost...but I must trudge on.

Looks like it's just the 360. The ESRB thing only mentioned it for the 360, and the confirmation yesterday was only for the 360.

Now, who knows? Maybe there's a PS3 version in the works but it might not be ready for this year? The 360 version is supposed to far along. It got rated, and it's supposed to come out this year. I wouldn't be surprised if a PS3 version is still just in the oven or something.

The PS3 will come after the 360, which makes sense.

Using Google Translator:

What about PS3? Wait until finish the port to X's? Looking for people right now? Can not plan at all? / Are at least in the distant plans will also be released on Sony consoles? / Why only on Xbox 360? Is it about money? / When the PS3 and why so late? / Does the PS3 version come out? If it comes out when it occurs (year and month I ask)?

After all, MS is known for issuing cash to the time (in this case, and so incomplete) exclusivity. We try to concentrate forces on one platform over which we are working at any given time. Our point here is that the game perfectly adapted to the specifics of your hardware and squeeze the most out of it. Although the course was also created REDengine designed for PS3. However, for today we are planning the Xbox, which will then we'll find out after the release version of the X's)?

Yea theyre a pretty small dev team, maybe they can only do one at a time. They did the PC version, now theyre working on the 360 and then maybe later they'll bring it to the PS3.

I haven't played the first one though but I'm interested on this. The gameplay looks good and it has great reception so I'm looking forward to when this hits on the 360.

Wow, looks better than I thought it would.

That sucks.

For those that have played it, can you change your characters appearance, or is it set from the start?

Those graphics look pretty dang good for console. I'll definitely be picking this up when it releases. I'd get it for my PC, but my old warhorse had trouble even running the first one, so I dare not try with the second.

CD Projekt speaks out about not being able to offer free DLC on 360.

The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings development director Adam Badowski has said that the game's free DLC on PC is unlikely to arrive on 360 without a price tag thanks to "certain Microsoft policies". He went on to say that looking at games from a purely business angle "can leave a bad taste in one's mouth" and that he doesn't like "to see gamers treat like dairy cows."

“We don’t see [DLC] as wrong, but we definitely don’t like to see gamers treated like dairy cows that are primed for milking,” Badowski told RPS. “All too often, DLC is seen as an additional revenue opportunity. That’s not bad in itself – we’re not only in this industry to make games, we’re also here to do business. But we shouldn’t look at it exclusively from the latter angle, because that sometimes leads to decisions that could leave a bad taste in one’s mouth.
"If you only think about the business in terms of the money it can generate, I think you could come awfully close to forcing players to buy something additional in order to enjoy fully a game they just bought. And that’s simply not fair."

Speaking about future DLC for The Witcher 2:

“All DLC for the PC version is and will remain free,” Badowski said. “That’s not likely to be the story for the Xbox version, because of certain Microsoft policies that need to be followed. But on PC, once you buy our game, you don’t need to worry about any additional costs – we will provide all updates, including those featuring new content, for free."

It's worth noting they fixed problems on the Xbox360 version noted in reviews and even went back to the pc versions and applied them along with new weapons, armour quests and a new game mode, free of charge.

have they given any indication if this game will come to the PS3 as well?

I really don't understand that. Why are some developers allowed to offer free DLC, but not others?

The Xbox360 is basically a weak pc. It's far easyer to port. CD Projekt is a relatively new and small company (most of them in there 20's) and seem more interested in giving you value than putting our a crap port (which is what much larger companies with more money quite happily do), I wouldn't hold your breath on it. The game engine they made is freaking awsome though, it's easily the best looking RPG on the market scaling all the way up to the top end hardware but also scales all the way down while still looking gorgeous. It's the art direction rather than the hardware pushing that makes it looks amazing. Almost every game has repetitive looking enviroment textures, in the Witcher 2 it's like they have went over almost every asset making sure each texture looks diffrent . The models as well look amazing. We have had millions of fantasy games but none of them really look like the witcher.

I dont think they are. MS only allows like one or 2 FREE DLC items before they force dev's/publishers to charge for them. It truly is a ridiculous system. I think if devs truly wanted to give out their DLC for free they should do so on the PS3. That might force more people over to Sony's console thus forcing MS to change that stupid policy.

I've read different stories, some claiming that there's a size limit up which you need to start charging. But, considering they still charge for a couple KB's...that policy has either changed or never been true.

And this is sort of sad. They obviously don't want to charge the players. But, it is pretty cool to see the drive they have, and what they want to do, despite not being able to do.

I'd be willing to support them by buying brand new, day one. They seem like a developer that I'd like to succeed.

From what iv seen of the Witcher 2, ill be buying day one regardless. Im glad they delayed it, keep it away from Skyrim.

Regarding PS3, I asked the developers at E3 last year about it. They said they'd be interested in doing it but they were focused on the 360 version at the moment.

I'd like to see the first one on Games On Demand

Xbox 360 "Adaptation" of The Witcher 2 to be Revealed this Week

The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings is getting an official unveil this week and CD Projekt RED are going to live stream the whole thing.
During the conference, CD Projekt RED has promised to reveal the release date of the project, alongside a new trailer and some of the additional features coming to the console version of the game.
"Witcher 2 on Xbox 360 is not just a simple port of a PC game, it's an adaptation. Our newest game has been enhanced with many new features, and according to many specialists it's one of the best looking games on Xbox 360 ever," said CD Projekt RED's Micha Nowakowski.
Hosted at the Copernicus Science Centre in Warsaw on Thursday 26th of January, the presser will begin at 6pm GMT / 10am PST / 1pm EST / 5am AEST and will be available on the Witcher facebook fan page (facebook.com/thewitcher).

I would have been satisfied by a straight port so this is even better. Really great looking game!
