Public Misconceptions about Watchmen...

I was talking to someone today who thought he was Clive Owen. I told her, "No, it's Denny!" (his character on Grey's) and she immediately knew who I was talking about. But then I added "He's nothing like Denny in this..."

Haha, I'd love to see them promote the movie like that. The ladies will line up, then they get to the Sally Jupiter scene.....:o:wow::dry::csad:

Its not the same, because those things stop once people lose interest,

This happens in other mediums.
or in some cases, get rejuvenated when the quality goes down.

That doesn't only happen in comics. TV and movies aren't the only things that can do that successfully or fail at it by replacing others with new people who screw up. Even if the same people are involved who made the franchise high quality sometimes they can fail to keep up the standards, as well. That's more obvious in novels, though.

The comics industry thrives on fans who will buy each issue no matter what.
Tv and movie franchises don't do this? :hehe:
Its a stagnant industry.
The industry is stagnant for many reasons. Some of it has to do with politics, some of it has to do with the format not adapting to the times, some of it is pricing and some of it quality. Though the comic industry is far from alone in getting complaints about last part. The upside is that the comic industry has been doing Hollywood enormous good will the last few decades by giving them great properties to make truckloads of money from. And they just started tapping into it, as well.

My friend called Dr.M a "a giant beast thats blue"

A friend of mine thought the movie was a comedy because of the smiley face... Haha :o

So, I heard there is going to be nudity...I was wondering what kind exactly and in what context?

no really...are you serious? that's all?

There's also a scene where Rorschach goes in the buff while at the bar because he knows that sometimes in this business, he has to do the unthinkable to get information. Snyder felt that he could take some liberties there because it added to the poignancy of the setting.

Oh ok...that all seems to make sense. I just don't like nudity for the sake of nudity...I like it to have a reason within the story and sounds like those are perfectly good reasons. :)

So Malin didn't get naked in this movie? Laurie in GN got naked quite a bit.

Yeah, she gets naked during the sex scene...that scene I mentioned was a joke. :p

She was only naked in darkness, if I recall. It wasn't full frontal.

Hopefully they will be more in the DC. :cwink: Btw, it does seemed like Zack is more keen toward male nudity than female's, though.

I just hope to see some children (who keep quiet, of course) in the theatre, that would be hilarious. As well, I get the feeling that since this is the current cool movie that alot of high schoolers will find their way in, or people who enjoy yelling at the screen.

I just read the novel last week but prior to that I suspected it would be dark, but this movie's going to throw off ALOT of people.

I have a friend who apparently misread a few online summaries of the graphic novel, and assumes Watchmen is about how a supervillain named Ozymandias creates a giant squid monster, and a bunch of random superheroes form the Watchmen for the first time to stop its ongoing rampage through New York City.

He also asked me if there's a lot of New Wave music in the movie, and if you see any crazy 80s clothing during the scenes where the Watchmen save the people in the city.

He made it very clear that he didn't care about spoilers (since he didn't want to see the movie and just refuses to read), so I spent about an hour explaining the real plot to him. I even explained Ozymandias' motives to him. He said that the story doesn't make any sense, and a few of them don't act like real superheroes. After a while, I just gave up.

well dang manic...seems like your stuck with that...tell him to just save the trouble of spending on a ticket to the theater and go rent the transporter or something...

Can I just say that the attention over Manhattans junk is pretty anger inducing? Really, it's not even that prominent, it's just more about hang up's than anything.

I must say the wang was quite well done. It flopped around in a realistic fashion. Even though I would have liked to see a helicoper-esque version of the blue wang, with an EXTRA glowing tip.

I'm so sorry for this.

My cousin called me to ask me about the movie since he knows that I am a comic collector/fan.
He said, "Man, I want to see this, it looks awesome."
I said "what do you know about it so far?"
He said "I know that Iceman and Batman are in it, but cant remember who the other guys are...."

Seriously.

I have an friend who hated it. He said,"it wasn't an ty pical superhero movie which is what I wanted, Nite Owl/Silk Spectre weren't in their costume enough, there wasn't enough fighting, the sex scene wasn't needed at all". He said the buddy he went with was distracted by Manhatten's wang :whatever: Is his penis really that big of a deal with people? grow up.

Tell him to shut his yapper and go watch 'X3'
