My pyramid, all of them being favorites of mine. I love all these guitarists music. There are too many great guitarists to name and its hard putting them in any kind of pyramid, but this is how my pyramid would go. :)

Van halen and clapton are definately out of their depth here! Where's richard thompson, richie havens, hendrix, alvin lee, rory gallagher?

If you really think you're going to find a lot of big Alvin Lee fans here, on superherohype? that's kind of silly.

why? He was a great guitarist and singer, and he(as part of ten years after) was the biggest hit of the greatest music festival ever(woodstock, obviously)

I respect his playing ability, but man does he look like someone who's made some very poor life choices.

Um...because most of the teenagers here think Yellowcard, Green Day and Jimmy Eat World are the ultimate in guitar-oriented music.

Well, he went bald. So he shaved his head and grew out a crazy beard.

I like Slayer a lot. But not enough where I can't be light-hearted about them.

It's still only the handful of kids who were thankfully exposed to good music (I'd guess parents or big brothers) and the handful of old people though.

I'll bet you $35 that ANTHONYNASTI Has never even heard of Alvin Lee.
I accept paypal.

Actually, I don't know. I was shocked to see a kid talking about Leo Kottke once here, a long time ago.

Well, it's a more modern look for him, anyway. All the REAL metal bands have to look "scary as f**K", you know. Heh! At any rate, I've enjoyed some of Slayer's stuff over the years.

At one point there was a 14 year old on here raving about Bella Fleck and Victor Wooten which about fried my brain.

Not really. Hendrix is massively overrrated. He's ability to emulate the sounds of a dying whale however, are second to none.

Agreed. I never understood the love for Hendrix. Though my hate for him stems down from the fact that he killed "All Along the Watchtower." Bob Dylan's version was about the lyrics, Hendrix made it about the guitar, and I still don't think the guitar was anything to write home about.

and on the sixth day god created adam jones

The best guitarist out there simply because he has the most unique sound of any guitarist I've ever heard. Apparently it's because his les paul is painted with metalic paint which causes interference with the pick ups but personally I just think he sold his soul. Either way:
