Well hendrix could come up with things more fantastical each time, and the reason he couldn't necessarily repeat a solo(except for the obvious fact it would be pointless) is that he was so mashed on drugs he could barely repeat a sentence, let alone an intense solo. He fed off his mind-bending drugs, and improvised solo's that were equally as mind-bending and awesome.

You aren't understanding my argument. Thats not TECHNICAL PROWESS. Technical prowess is determined by things that you do that you can repeat every time. Its being able to do something like "Eruption" and then go out on stage and do it note for note like it sounded on the album. Its being able to play in other time signatures other than a standard 4/4. Going out on stage and wowing people with an unbelievable solo that you have no hopes of ever repeating? Thats showmanship.

Well hendrix could go out and play purple haze, whilst in a haze himself! lol. All of his music is expertly executed on both albums and live. I can understand someone not liking his style, but his expertise should really not be in question.

Hank marvin basically introduced the concept of the elctric guitar to the world, if it wasn't for the shadows musical would have been totally different today
