Pyramid Of Guitarists

fair enuff, but that's not the point, lol. not being a guitarist or an english teacher or anything, I'll excuse myself for that one. Harmonica is where it's at!
We played with this cool band called "Tenderloin" and they had this huge obese singer who played harmonica so wicked, he was the Paganini of harmonica.
After the show everyone was drinking and our roadie-slaves were breaking everything down and I was wasted and said, "Man, I don't understand how you guys get harmonicas to sound like that, wish I could do that."

And he goes "I'll give you a free lesson."
So he plays something, explains what he was doing, and then hands me the slimy harmonica from out of his giant, fat, beer-stench mouth and says, "Now you try it."

Hahahaha

I disagree with a lot of jokernick's stuff! I think Iommi is in the top 25 or so. When he made that comment about zeppelin being influenced by sabbath tho.... CRAZY!!!

Although the three major rock and metal bands that influenced all music after it and set the standard, were zeppelin, deep purple and black sabbbath.

Music wise, led zeppelin is the most musically talented easily though

Nice one!

I find a lot of people think harmoinca is really easy, but it's very complex, and when people get really good, it's amazing. I saw the blues band live, and paul jones is sublime!

I can sing like a mofo, put myself through college playing trumpet, can hold my own on a drumset, play keyboards, play enough guitar to know that I'm a terrible guitar player, but can play a bass sort of worth a damn. Harmonica is one instrument I've never been able to figure out. My mouth just doesn't work that way (I think it's the 20 years of trumpet playing that get in between me and a harmonica). My hat's off to anyone who can play one of those things.

"Rift" is geological term that refers to areas where forces of plate techtonics are evident, as in Africa's Great Rift Valley. A "riff" is rockological term that refers to areas where the forces of massive guitar solo or "hooks" are evident, such as Joe's catchy riff in "Walk this Way."

The relationship between geology and rocks notwithstanding. :ninja:

I tried guitar(failed), keyboard(not very successful), acordian(fail), recorder(fail), drums(not very successful).

But i can play harmonica, it took me years to find the instrument for me, but now I just seem to fit with a harmonica, so that's pretty fun.

I'm good at guitar, decent singer, semidecent bassist, and a better drummer than my roommate... and its his instrument of choice.

must be cool to do that, i have to stick with the one instrument, although i can play a great jazz/blues impro thing on piano, from an AGFE bassline.

I'm across the pond, mate. I haven't touched my horn in years, though.

Tony Iommi IS the greatest riff architect ever. No question about it.

Thanks! Hey, I found some Black Robes stuff online.

sadly it's not real. It's just us wasted messing around and mainly me laying down guitar on songs I didn't even like for the keyboard/bass guy.
When I found out he put it online and affixed my name to it I got freaking pissed and it caused a RIFT between us. lol,:)

Ahh. Well, it was the first chance I'd had to hear your playing. You laid down some tasty stuff for songs you don't like. Hehe! I take it this group is now defunct?

No, Page. :o
ofcourse it's all a matter of opinion, but I believe Page to be one of the best (if not the BEST) songwriter of all time. All his riffs blend perfectly with each other, but IMO as far as individual riffs go Iommi is the man.

Yeah, that was why. We just wanted to do our band which is amazing genius hard Rock, and we invited this talented keyboard guy to JOIN it.
When we set out to get it going, it turned out that he assumed we'd be doing his songs as well, songs that, if it weren't against the rules of taste and the Hype, I'd have to describe as..."ghey".

Then, we tried to work around it and suggested some changes, omitting the really egregious parts, and oddly, it was like, he couldn't hear us when we told him, "Cool, but we gotta get rid of that one part."

He'd just...keep...playing the offending parts.
So that's why there is no Black Robes today. :(

Why don't you guys just reconvene without him?

All of us who play instruments should try to record and arrange stuff over the internet to make a SHH track? Weird thought, but why not! We should prob start with a bassline or something, anyone interested?

Gets difficult to master, because everyone's got different software and/or platforms. Then there's the matter of agreeing on a style, etc. It's a cool idea, but I don't know that I have time for it, personally. :csad:
