Quentin Tarantino's The Hateful Eight

I'm surprised Ennio Morricone agreed to do the score for this considering him justifiably ripping Tarantino in the past. They probably paid him a lot of cash.
In terms of music Tarantino is sort of funny because he has great picks to highlight, yet far more often than not does not know how to use them. He is a fantastic writer, yet as a director probably should have taken a couple years off at some point to get some real lessons to hone his craft.

Hahahahahahaha...

Oh, wait... You're serious?

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!

Oh, my sides... The need people have to be iconoclasts on the Internet, I tell ya.

I love how a nobody on the internet is telling Quentin "F'In" Tarantino to take some directing lessons.

The man is in his 80s. If he was ever gonna do a gig for the money it was a while ago.

Nonsense. He is a fantastic director.

Morricone hated the use of rap mixed with western theme, but he still had love for Quentin. Also, everytime QT used one of his songs in previous films, he got paid. He came out of retirement only for Quentin. He needs to work on his craft bs. smh.

Saw the trailer before Spectre started playing. This is goin to be a huge movie. Christ! I miss Tarantino!

Well it seems there are several people here with deeper understanding of movie music than the Maestro :cwink:, but anyways here is a link to what Ennio Morricone said for people to deride and dismiss:

I already thought something similar after re-watching some of Tarantino's movies and realizing I loved the music better when it was not in the movies.

After seeing more old movies that were his favorites I realized they were less influences then sources, from which he cut and pasted, and had to look at his movies as pastiche (pastiche can still be great), but the only movie he made that really stands the test of time as arguably a masterwork is Pulp Fiction. Phenomenal writer, and a skilled director but not someone who in that area of craft can ever be put near the greats. Is it really so strange to look at his movies with a critical eye, or ear.

As for Hateful Eight there has never been Tarantino movie that lacked for trailer friendly visuals, so the lackluster trailer does not bode well (Though I hope it's just one of those cases of a trailer not doing it justice). The cast is terrific and I do keep track of what Tarantino makes, he's just not someone who puts my butt automatically in the seat (only a few directors can do that in and of themselves).

Well the "maestro" obviously changed his mind from two years ago after saying he'd never work with him again, so... Yeah. And the use of music by Tarantino is on par with Marty's and is one of the many aspects fans and critics appreciate about his work. But again... Enjoy your anonymous Internet iconoclast stature for what it's worth.

I do not need to be a master brewer to give a preference for what type of beer I like and why. Criticism is of course easier than creation, but it does not render it invalid. Morricone was more likely persuaded by cash than anything in Tarantino's work where the use of music has not improved overtime. I mostly do not understand the comparisons between him and the greats (once again for the short bus crowd in the area of film direction) like Martin Scorsese or John Ford, the later of whom Tarantino has the narcissism to dismiss entirely as a director when he was better in his worst movies than Tarantino is in his best.

For a bit on context on the final bit, this is the only article I found that explains the whole thing:

Uh... Breitbart? Really? And... Classy with the "short bus" jibe. Those two are pretty much all we need to know about someone that was registered in 2002 and has a bit over 200 posts.

Ennio's pushing 90, I can't really see him getting involved with a major film production purely for the monetary gain.

As a narcissus myself. You and John Ford can kiss my ass.

So I see this thread is a hot mess. :o

An article from what pretty much is the Fox News version of the Huffington Post.
