Question about Lex and Clark's relationship

When did things turn sour?I only started watching the show weekly this season and totally missed the part where they started hating each other.

It pretty much stared when Clark found out that Lex lied about not trying to find out Clarks Secret.

Their friendship ended when in Mortal when Clark found out that Lex had put his family at risk to discover his secret. Although they had a strange interaction in the show when Lois stripped.

But they had been uneasy since Clark found the secret room in Lex's manison, with all his files on Clark.

They tried over the period of season four to repair their friendship and they just couldn't. Slowly since then it just has been deteriorating more and more and it was at about Commencement that it just turned ugly.

Although the events in Commencement were hard on the relationship, probably the final straw was the scene in the remains of the farm house in the season 5 opener, Arrival.

Lex asks Clark to level with him for once about where he was during the meteor shower and Clark doesn't...

After that, Lex never felt the same about Clark although even later in season 5 Lex would at times help Clark out if he needed something (the antidote for the vamp virus in Thirst, getting into that club in Exposure) but by the end of season 5 things could never go back.

I dont know if I would call that helping Clark out, per se, more that Lex had ulteria motives for helping Clark.
