I know alot of creators that say they that they save alot of money by printing their books in black and white. But how many people here would actually buy a black and white tpb in black and white?

Lots of people. Look at the huge success of Sin City for example...

That would depend on the quality of the work, I'd think, unless you're someone who either absolutely hates all B&W or absolutely loves all B&W.

In the above case, Blader5489 would absolutely hate any B&W work, whether done by rookies or established greats.

Again depends on the quality of the work. Look at the Walking Dead. Few people knew who Kirkman was when that book first came out. Some people may have known his name from Invincible, but most didn't. The writing was good and the B&W style fit the book very well. The only downside to B&W is that it will immediately look like a smaller press comic. A lot of people have issues with buying a nonestablished creator's work.

Some of us read both American trades and Japanese manga, so I'd say there's a decently sized audience of readers who don't mind black and white comics.

I love seeing comic art in B&W. I wish that I could have a digital copy of every book I buy, with the option of viewing the work in B&W or color.

The market for indy comics is very different from the market for mainstream comics. There is some over-lap, obviously, but if you speak to the guys who tend to buy independent works, a lot of them actually look down on colour and claim to prefer B&W. It's horses for courses.

If you're putting your own book together, you might want to do a print run in B&W to keep costs down and make a full colour version available through a POD service like Lulu or Ka-Blam.
