Question about Venom

So I heard Venom was indeed the character that pushed Spider-Man into a train in Web of Spider-Man #18, where his spidey sense didn't go off.

But what issue was it revealed that indeed WAS venom ? ? Or is that just what the rumor was?

The writer at the time (Micheline?) was setting up a charecter that was meant to have the symbiote, but originally it was supposed to be a woman whose husband had died watching spidey fight someone. There was another instance where his webbing was cut out a window or something. this was never revealed to be Venom in the comics, and the idea was retooled into what became Venom. All this was revealed in interviews with the creators.

There was a Venom mini-story in an ASM issue where Pete found out his parents were robots... and then they died...

But judging by that sentence, the actually story's far more amusing.
