Maybe it has to do with movies being one of the longest standing popular media of entertainment. Only music, art, and literature are older than movies, and people don't read books as much as they do movies. Everyone watches movies of some kind though, and that opens the door for a wider area of elitists. If you think about it, there are snobs in every form of entertainment available. It's just that movies are more casual than video games or sports. You can meet a person who doesn't play video games, but you've never met a person that doesn't watch movies. Since everyone is into movies as entertainment, then many are into the elitist critics who get paid to give their opinion. Well chances are that critics will not agree with everything their favorite critics say, and they get defensive when they hear someone else with what the critics disliked about a movie. Music is too broken up into genres to fully be like movies. Musical love is highly racial, so people will only get defensive when talking about music between races, and that rarely happens. With movies though, it's just accepted that critics opinions are "better" than everyone else.
Plus, people are just too damn unaccepting of opinions. It's like some TDK fans are. They're not the only ones, so I don't want them to feel like I'm singling them out. Still, some Dark Knight fans act like you're a bane to existence if you think another comic movie is better than it. Why should anyone care? I liked Spider-man 3, and I don't care if people bash it. I defend it a little, but I still acknowledge their opinion. It's the same thing with other movies like The Godfather, 2001:A Space Odyssey, Taxi Driver, Star Wars, Raiders of the Lost Ark, etc. I think those movies suck, but that's my opinion. Does it really matter that I disagree with what some people call as great movies? People just think too much with a gang mentality. That's probably why they bash you for disliking those movies anyway. They heard soooooooo much about how great the movie was, then they looked for reasons to see it as great when they watched it, and now they're pissed because you formed your own opinion instead of going with the flock. Oh well, I usually drown those people out with music anyway.
I want a three page explanation why you think they suck.
Due tomorrow at noon!
