1. What were those henchmen that the Joker used, the one's that looked like babies? Where did he get them from? Also, where did he get all those evil circus performers?

2. How legitimate is the Joker's memory of his past? Was it true, was he lying, does HE even know what's true and what isn't? Do we ever find out for sure in a different comic?

3. What's better, "The Killing Joke", or "The Man Who Laughs"? (I want to know before I buy "The Man Who Laughs".

Thanks in advance!:)

1. I assumed he found them in an old circus of some sort? It's never really been explained. Oh, and the "ones that look like babies" are called midgets.

2. It was confirmed his origin in Killing Joke is about 90% true in Hush Returns, except instead of his wife dying in an accident, the Red Hood Gang killed her when she tried to talk him out of doing the job.

3. They're both awesome.

That pissed me off. I much preferred it that his wife's death was just a freak accident. I mean how did she even know he was going to pull that job?? He was just discussing it there with those thugs and making up the lies he would tell his wife for when he was going to do it.

Also his wife called him Jack in it :down

He told his wife. And I don't mind his name being confirmed as Jack either, I always thought that was a good name for him.

Yeah, that's what I mean. They completely changed the Killing Joke scenario. It was much better that he didn't want to tell his wife what he was doing. Remember he was afraid that she'd think he was a failure. He wanted to prove himself. For her and his unborn baby.

As for being called Jack, the name is fine, I just think the Joker works better as a nameless monster.

Anyone know if DC is still produsing reprints? I had a 2nd printing of it for years but sold it when i needed some cash in Collage. I would like to get it again, it's my favorite Batman comic.

At the moment, it's only being printed in DC Universe: The Stories of Allen Moore.

Here's something I never quite understood; if you know and accept his origin has a highly sympathetic, non-monster comedian guy, why care if he's named? You, essentially, already know "who" he is. The name's just garnish, really.

Now, if the Joker's origins were totally unknown, I'd agree completely, but y'know, they aren't.

Well the Joker is going to get an offical origin in 52 soon, so I guess we'll see.

But we don't know if that is his true origin. Joker himself isn't sure. He said he remembers it in various ways. What was it he said, he likes his past as multiple choice??

With Hush Returns, it completely obliterated all that. His origin was set in stone, he was named Jack, the Riddler was a witness to his wife's murder etc.

Like I said, I prefer an element of mystery to Joker's background. That is no longer the case now.

Oh yeah, Hush Returns sucks completely. I was merely commenting on the name thing in particularly. So many people make such a big deal about it, it's really become quite perplexing to me.

The Man Who Laughs is better than The Killing Joke. I wasn't as excited and curious when reading TKJ compared to TMHL. I feel that TKJ along with DKR are highly overrated.

Please explain sir!:)

Well currently in 52, they have 2 page backup stories where theyre retelling origins of many characters. One of them, will be the Joker, written by Mark Waid and art by Brian Bolland.

Personally I think after all these years, "The Man Who Laughs" is the definite
Joker story. Get both anyways their both fun.

I'm going to make my own Joker origin. Anyone care to do the art for me?

I agree. I mean, that was really the whole point - that all it takes is one bad day, not all it takes is a loved one being murdered (I'm looking at you Bruce).

Good thing the Hush Returns origin will be washed away for the new one in '52'..... hopefully.

Any idea when this '52' origin issue is out??

It'll be coming out November 22, issue #29. It's written by Mark Waid, not sure who the artist is though.

Scratch that, I think it's Brian Bolland as the artist. Only the greatest Joker artist ever :joker:.

Oh great stuff. Can't wait.

Thanks tom.

Sweet! Hopefully Superman's will be soon so we can finally clear this MOS vs BR mess.

They'll probably still keep it as ambiguous as possible, and there will likely still be issues that need to be resolved afterwards in order for anything to make sense. At least, that's my prediction anyway.

Wow, I didn't even see Darth's post... now I feel like an idiot. :O
