RAGE 2 is the upcoming sandbox shooter set in the year 2185 that will allow you to explore the westland as Walker, who sets out to take down the villainous Authority once and for all. He’s the last of his kind, equipped with the tech and special abilities that have turned into a myth in the game's universe that's powered by Avalanche's own Apex Engine that debuted in this month's Just Cause 4.![]()
GameInformer's extensive RAGE 2 coverage continues, this time giving us a chance to take a look at the gaudy game's over-powered abilities. In the latest video, Game Director Magnus Nedfors shows off the skills and weapons RAGE 2 will have to offer when it finally releases May 14th, including the gravity dash, returning windstick, powerful force punch, vortex grenades, blueish barrier, and many more.
According to the developers, the sandbox extravaganza won't be trying to experiment with the already established (and working) technology, and they have been focusing on delivering a mesmerizing experience instead. It will be interesting to see how RAGE 2 holds up against Ubisoft Montreal's Far Cry: New Dawn that's also targeting similar audience. Take a look at RAGE 2's arsenal down below:
In the year 2185, humanity’s numbers are dwindling. Ruthless and bloodthirsty gangs roam the open roads and the tyrannical Authority seek to rule who remains with an iron fist. You are Walker, the last Ranger of the wasteland. Robbed of your home and left for dead, you’ll tear across an unforgiving wasteland battling bloodthirsty gangs to find the tools and tech needed to take the fight to The Authority and crush their oppressive rule once and for all!
RAGE 2 will be released for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on May 14, 2019.

The first RAGE was released seven years ago and hardly anyone had asked for a sequel to the id Software shooter before its official announcement at Bethesda's E3 2018 media briefing. While the majority of players and critics agreed that RAGE was an underwhelming and short experience set in a depressing, but quite beautiful post-apocalyptic world, the sequel has a chance to right those wrongs.![]()
RAGE 2, that is being developed mostly at Avalanche, the creators of Mad Max and the Just Causeseries, will reportedly offer players a variety of visual variations across the post-apocalyptic world, involving five distinct biomes, each popping with color and begging to be explored. RAGE 2 will give you a chance to fight mutants in swamplands, underground cities, forests, and naturally, the deserts.
GameInformer's extended coverage of RAGE 2 continues in the latest video that features nearly 20 minutes of never-before-seen gameplay that you can check out down below. According to the editors that already played the game, it's easiest to describe it as an "open-world Bulletstorm," so if you liked the People Can Fly-created action-packed shooter, you may also want to give RAGE 2 a try. Take a look:

While the first RAGE, which launched almost 10 years ago, tried to embrace darker, more mature themes, the upcoming sequel will leave "realism" behind, heading into a more colorful and gaudy direction. RAGE 2 is the unexpected and colorful baby of a collaboration between Avalanche Studios (Mad Max, Just Cause) and id Software (DOOM, Quake), the acclaimed creators of the original RAGE.
According to id Software Studio Director Tim Willits, the fact that RAGE 2 will feature one, huge map (unlike the first one that was divided into bigger and smaller sections) allows the developers to create a more cohesive and satisfying experience. Willits described the original RAGE as "fifty shades of brown" with a pretty monotone color palette, but it's no longer the case in RAGE 2 that is way more vibrant.
RAGE 2 will include multiple biomes, from deserts, to jungles, to wetlands, and each and every one of them is apparently distinct enough to make you want to explore it further. Willits also confirmed that you won't have to play RAGE to understand what's going on in the sequel. Learn how id's collaborating with Avalanche to make an all-new total package that builds on what the original got right below:

Avalanche Studios and id Software’s RAGE 2 is set in 2165, thirty years after the events of the first game. That big time gap between RAGE and its upcoming sequel allows the developers to give free rein to their imagination, as the wasteland that used to be a lifeless, brown, and overall uninteresting place has changed, teaming with colors and featuring blooming plants, mutated beasts, and forgotten cities.
GameInformer's extended RAGE 2 coverage continues, this time giving us a chance to take a closer look at all the biomes you will have a chance to explore during your playthrough. According to Bethesda, RAGE 2 owners will seamlessly traverse a vast and varied landscape, from lush jungles and treacherous swamps to sun-scorched deserts in their pursuit of the villainous and ruthless Authority.
In RAGE 2, the player's main goal is taking the aforementioned Authority down. You will play as Walker, the last of his kind, equipped with the cutting-edge technology and special abilities that have turned into a myth. Be sure to take a look at the latest RAGE 2 featurette (with a pretty cringeworthy and overall unnecessary commentary of GI's Ben Reeves) that focuses on the biomes down below:

Considering that Avalanche Studios' past two games (Just Cause 4 and Generation Zero) released to rather mixed reviews, RAGE 2 is a big unknown, On one hand, the game is being co-developed by the renowned creators of the original title from id Software (who are working on DOOM: Eternal), but on the other one – developing three titles simultaneously might have been just too much for Avalanche.
While the latest gameplay footage from RAGE 2 doesn't answers all those questions, it does give us our best look yet at the upcoming extravaganza’s core gameplay mechanizes. According to the developers, RAGE 2 will be a much different experience than its predecessor, abandoning the original’s grayness and depressing tones. Just like Far Cry: New Dawn, RAGE 2 is all about hope – and hurting people.
RAGE 2 is set in 2165, thirty years after the events of the first game, so you will definitely have many chances to meet characters from the 2009 title, even if they made some bold stylist choices.

There's no denying that id Software's original RAGE from 2010 was an incredibly ambitious (especially on the technical side), but ultimately generally underwhelming and pretty repetitive, gaming experience. While the upcoming sequel will keep some of its core gameplay mechanics (mostly when it comes to shooting stuff), it will be a drastically different, more open-world, and also varied experience.
With plenty of biomes to explore, powerful weapons to use (such as the returning boomerang-like wingstick), and enemies to annihilate, Avalanche Studios has one simple premise – making the sequel bigger, better, and much more badass. To fulfil that ambitious idea, the acclaimed Swedish studio will give you more space to experiment and make the explosive title's huge sandbox "your own."
In RAGE 2, you have one major objective – taking down the villainous Authority. While the oppressive government’s forces outmatch you in sheer numbers, you will be able to use not only a variety of overpowered weapons and special abilities, but also some pretty cool and useful vehicles – including a modified hoverbike, a little thing that you fly around and reach your destination without killing anyone.
To learn more about that fantastic machine, take a look at theRadBrad's RAGE 2 playthrough below:

source: PC Games news and reviews from PCGamesN.comTo unlock new Rage 2 Nanotrites, you need to head towards the various Arks dotted across the asteroid-ridden planet you call home. Some will award you with weapons instead, but you can also gather intel that tells you the specific ark for a given ability. Once you’ve cleared the area of foes around each of these special pods, you’ll get a tutorial to teach you how your new Rage 2 power works. For example, the Earthscar Ark shows you the ropes of ‘Slam’, both in your normal and souped-up ‘Overdrive’ state.
As with pretty much everything in Rage 2 – as well as your items, vehicles, and projects – Nanotrites are upgradeable. Each of your 11 powers has multiple levels which can be progressed through with the material, Feltrite. Within that you have further upgrades – such as increased range and decreased cooldown for Slam – which can be unlocked with Nanotrite Boosters. So there’s plenty to get your head around, so let’s get started with breaking down all the Nanotrite powers you can make use of to take it to the malevolent Authority.
Rage 2’s Nanotrite powers are:

[paste:font size="4"]DEFIBRILLATION

So that’s all the Rage 2 powers you’ll be wielding when the game lands very soon. There’s more for us to learn before the Rage 2 release datecomes around and we can get behind Walker’s vengeful iron sights, but it looks like the four main Nanotrites – Vortex, Slam, Shatter, and Barrier – are the moves into which you should be plugging your Feltrite once you’ve unlocked them. But, whichever upgrade route you choose, a chaotic, viscera-soaked hellfire of an experience is guaranteed
