Ragnarok or Guardians of the Galaxy 2?

Ragnarok was the best IMO - it was much funnier than Guardians Vol. 2 which was huge step-down from the first one.

I feel like Ragnarok has wider appeal, and has a tighter story - mostly because it's built around one central character.

However I loved GOTG vol 2, it was emotional and hilarious, the words "Mantis, look out !" still puts a smile on my face.

Also the Guardians are my favorite MCU characters - mostly because, for a bunch of alien weirdos, they're very human.

And of course, while Ragnarok does make excellent use of a Led Zeppelin classic, GOTG is all about the music.

Really enjoyed both, but have to go with GOTG vol 2.

Big fan of both, but Vol. 2 wins on visuals and emotion. I feel a connection to those characters more and I love Rocket as a character. It's not as tight as Guardians but it's more personal.

I definitely feel that Ragnarok is funnier though.

Ragnarok, by an absolute mile. And I actually really love GotG 2, so that shows how highly I rate Ragnarok. As much as I love the characters in GotG 2 (Rocket and Yondu especially), I'd still much rather spend two hours with Thor, Hulk, Valkyrie, Loki, Korg, the Grandmaster and my love Hela especially. t:

Never have liked GotG so it's an easy choice for me. I'd take any Marvel movie actually, even Incredible Hulk, IM2 & TDW over either Guardians film.

It helps that I quite like Ragnarok for what it was, even if it's not my ideal Thor film.

Gotg 2 did better things with its villain since they were able to dedicate more time to Ego, so Rocket's character went backwords until he talked to yondu so Ragnarok was much more enjoyable

Ragnarok is up there with GotG 1, Avengers and Winter Soldier as one of my favourite Marvel films. It's an almost perfect combination of an indie comedy and a cosmic epic that finally does Thor justice on screen. Guardians 2 was a fun sequel and I loved the soundtrack but it's not quite in that league.

In terms of humor i also felt that TR did a much better job than GOTG2. Ragnarok's humor felt more natural to the flow of the story, more integrated and funnier while the humor in GOTG2, to me at least, felt very forced, imature and not as funny. Not saying that there wasn't funny moments but plenty of times i felt like it was just trying too hard.

Ragnarok is one of the absolute best movies based on Marvel characters. The fun,excitement,creativity Waititi poured in the picture create an original blockbuster movie that you don't see many times. And I love Vol.2 too, as much as Vol.1

Vol 2 was ok but everything felt forced and recycled. It also had too much damn music, like Suicide Squad.

I enjoyed the music, but yes, Vol 2 didn't hit me emotionally like the first one did. I never believed Yondu was some kind of misguided father figure, that felt like a huge retcon, and all the 'newness' that made GotG aMAYzing was gone. GotG 2 was still cool, even if the middle sagged like a broke down horse. Ragnarok however, despite being one great movie packaged inside an okay movie retained that rich center through to the end and I enjoyed it much more.

Ragnorak vs GOTG1 would be a different story though.

I agree. I love the first GOTG and it's in my Top 3 MCU movies but Ragnarok is my favorite of all of them. A metric ton of fun.

Ragnarok by a landslide. GotG2 should have focused on the growing relationships between the Guardians, not on Star-Lord's daddy issues.

Sorry I gotta go with GotG2. Cripes that movie resonated with me. When I talk to commonfolk about it I usually start with "his dad was a fckn planet." Now that the talking raccoon, giant tree man and two green people are commonplace, what else can we add to the mix? "How about the mohawk alien that raised the hero belonged to a honor-driven band of space outlaws which he was excommunicated from for taking a child to a godlike planet sized being who ends up being his father.

Oh and I like your new shirt." And this is normal people talking about this. Its not just comic book nerds. It makes me really happy, as a weird person.

Which, when you include some of the visuals, also makes sense. Its a weird movie for weird people. The hyperspace jump scene, Ego's surface, the fight with the abilisk... just a total ****in trip.

But yeah I really liked all that. I blame drugs.
