Phase One
- Iron Monger (Iron Man)
- Abomination (The Incredible Hulk)
- Whiplash (Iron Man 2)
- Loki (Thor, The Avengers)
- Red Skull (Captain America: The First Avenger)

Phase Two
- Aldrich Killian (Iron Man 3)
- Malekith (Thor: The Dark World)
- Alexander Pierce (Captain America: The Winter Soldier)
- Ronan (Guardians of the Galaxy)
- Ultron (Avengers: Age of Ultron)
- Yellowjacket (Ant-Man)

Phase Three
- Helmut Zemo (Captain America: Civil War)
- Kaecilius (Doctor Strange)
- Ego the Living Planet (Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2)
- Vulture (Spider-Man: Homecoming)
- Hela (Thor: Ragnarok)
- Killmonger (Black Panther)
- Thanos (Avengers: Infinity War)

Obviously not much to go on for Phase Three yet. And while I put Abomination as the main antagonist for The Incredible Hulk, I suppose the argument could be made for Thunderbolt Ross instead.

Discuss.

oooh it might even be fair to say Dormammu was the main antagonist of Doctor Strange and Kaecilius was the henchman.

I didn't use Dormammu because he doesn't drive the action of the film. Kaecilius (while a henchman) facilitated the destruction of the Sanctums, thus allowing Dormammu entry into the earth dimension.

Similar at least to the Ross/Abomination dynamic. Though it's probably worth noting Ross was the main antagonist at first then by the end of the movie Ross and Banner had to unite to take him down.

Or, for that matter, Ross is Banner's antagonist and Blonsky is Hulk's antagonist.

For phase three, I'm hoping that Vulture will make it high on my list. Thanos will hopefully be the number one for MCU villains throughout phase 1-3.

Was Vulture even that great in the comics though? I think there is a reason Vulture is a B-list villain, his gimmick sucks and he is not one of the villains who makes Spider-Man's rogues gallery great. I don't see how Vulture will be the one who dramatically improves the quality of MCU villains.

Was Zemo or Kaecillius ever great villains in the comics? I just said I want him to rank high on my list for phase 3 villains. Vulture is a cool villain. He's not up there with Green Goblin, Doc Ock, Venom, Mysterio, etc, but Marvel Studios can do something great with him, especially with Keaton in the role.

Zemo is great in the comics, look at stories like Born Better, Seige of Avengers Mansion and the Thunderbolts saga.

Yeah Kaecillius is nothing character in the comics, but he only appeared in 12 issues, Zemo and Vulture have had far more appearances.

You say Vulture is a cool villain, okay why? People say Vulture is a smart villain and yet he engages in the same smash and grab tactics that morons like Rhino engage in. Sure he invented the wings, but what else has he done to cement himself as an intellectual villain?

Don't get me wrong, Vulture has had his moments in the comics, but no one has weaved all the story threads with him to make an consistently interesting character, too often he is just another dull bank robbing thug.

Also what does Vulture bring to the table that Green Goblin doesn't? Vulture sounds like another underwhelming MCU villain.

I think Vulture is cool because I like his technology, I like his general design, I like the fact that he is old, and he has a good background story regarding his origin (getting betrayed by his business partner). I never said he is a GREAT villain, but he is a good one. I don't really feel like saying more because I'm lazy. EHH.

He's a totally serviceable villain, and can easily be improved upon in the movie to make him stand out.

Or he could end up another underwhelming Malekith style villain. Serviceable villains is what we have gotten for more most MCU movies and when people say now that Spidey is part of the MCU, now we see some great villains in the movies, was Vulture one of the villains they were talking about? I don't see how Vulture is going to be better then most of the underwhelming MCU villains we saw in the past.

Here is my question, what does Vulture bring to the table that Green Goblin doesn't?

Despite Homecoming not being an origin movie, I think it's better to save a-listers Doc Ock and Green Goblin till later. B-list villain like Vulture works for now.
