Kirsten Dunst made an appearance today at ShoWest. She was honored as the "Female Star of the Year" and the IESB was able to talk to Dunst about Spider-Man 4.

Prior to the ShoWest dinner honoring her as "Female Star of the Year," Kirsten participated in a press conference at the Paris Hotel.

We asked Kirsten Dunst what her feelings were on making a Spider-Man 4? We quickly reminded her that Sony already commissioned a script for the sequel from David Koepp. She said that it's evil that they would want to do it so quickly. She added that Sam [Raimi] needs a break and needs to do something else first. She feels that Tobey [Maguire], Sam [Raimi] and herself are a team.
She concluded saying she could see doing another Spider-Man film but not anytime soon. Dunst joked that they should do a low budget, Evil Dead style Spider-Man 4.

Considering Sony has already commissioned a script, will they move forward without the winning team of Tobey, Kirsten and Sam?
With the cash bonanza that the Spider-Man franchise is, it's no wonder the studio wants to continue that trend.
The IESB videotaped the entire press conference and will post the video shortly of Kirsten Dunst so you can see what she had to say word for word, so check back soon!
Spider-Man 3 hits theaters May 4th!

God everytime she opens her mouth she says something stupid. Now suddenly she's open to it and said nothing negative whatsoever like she did last time. Sony is now evil, and Sam Raimi needs a break. Isn't it slated for 2010??? Is Sam asking for a break??? He seems to love his work. It's not like they're gonna start filming in 12 months. I hope the next Spider-Man film isn't all about MJ.

Dunst on Spider-Man 4 from ShoWest

At this year's ShoWest in Las Vegas, Kirsten Dunst showed up to accept the ShoWest Female Star of the Year, and at the press conference that preceded the awards ceremony, the question on many minds was whether she would be willing to make another movie in the "Spider-Man" franchise.

"Well, I think Sam has dedicated so much of his life, like more than ten years, to the 'Spider-Man' franchise with so much passion and love, the man is burnt out at this time," she told reporters. "I think he needs a long vacation to put his creativity towards something else and then maybe we'll revisit it. I told Sam that we should do a 'Spider-Man 4' that's completely low budget--'Evil Dead' style--where Mary Jane has eight children with very little special effects and then we'll get a whole new audience, we'd make a lot of money because it wouldn't cost as much and everyone would go see it."

When asked about the rumors that Sony is moving forward with a fourth movie with or without Raimi, Dunst was surprised that someone would even suggest it. "Do they want to give Sam Raimi a heart attack? That's evil. Sorry, that's not happening any time soon. I would just say no for Sam's sake so that he can have a break. We would all do it together because Sam, Tobey and I are a team now, but there's no way it's going to happen very soon. I just can't imagine that. We don't have the story to tell right now."

"I really have evolved as an actress and as a person from 1 to 3, so for me, the role has grown with me," Dunst said when asked about what she felt she has brought to the role of Mary Jane. "She's always a woman searching and she's always been someone that at that time of my life I could relate to. In this film, because we're older and the relationships are deeper than we've seen in the last two, it's only made all of our roles so much more meaningful to all of us. We never rest on our laurels with these films, we always try to make it better, and I think it'll really show in this third one."

"Where is this being fed to?" Dunst asked inquisitively. "The internet? Great." (And cause you can't tell tone of voice from reading this, let's just say that she seemed less than thrilled by that last bit.)

Spider-Man 3 opens on May 4.

Ok she's officially ******ed now. Uhhhh the story is going to be written dunce. Just fire her and keep Gwen and move forward. Who the hell is she to say when it's gonna be made and that Sam is burnt out. Suddenly her and Tobey are this strong team. I think she realizes that Sony's planning on going without her and she's trying to make herself look loyal. If she does get the role again...I hope they hide the script from her and flash that "Men in Black" light in her face after each shoot.

After that Cameron Crowe movie and Marie Antoniette flopped, a Spider-Man 4 is looking good to Kirsten.

Yeah but honestly I don't want her back. I don't know if it's her or her lines but she comes across as very sappy.

She kinda seems selfish,if she isn't in the movie then she thinks Raimi/Maguire shouldn't be in it,and it should be a low budget movie.

^ Last time she was much more negative and talking about how could there possibly be any more stories to tell after a whole 3 films. Tard.

She may be joking. I doubt she actually wants an Evil Dead Spider-Man movie.

Like I said, her last two movies flopped. So...a Spidey 4 is looking good to her now.

Kirsten always says something silly. So, just chill, Advanced Dark. You should be used to it by now.

^^ love your avy Catman!!:cwink:

may i ask, whose goodies are those? :woot:

As Sappy as she is, if MJ is part of S-M 4, and she basically gave away her character's fate in that interview, I went her to play the part, I don't want continuity broken.

Nothing Dunst has said has yet to offend me at all.

There seems to be something else at work here with all this hating.

Just like when tasteless scumbags on this forum accused her of being pregnant by Jake Gyllenhaal and said she should quit because she would be too "fat and ugly" to play Mary Jane. I didn't see her giving anything away at all. She was just expressing her opinion, why is this a crime?

The Evil Dead thing was just a silly joke, just like the thing with Spider-man "dying" certain fanboys take crap way too seriously.

^ The evil dead thing was a joke but I think her comments about Spidey dying were just her attempting to conjur up a thought. Did people actually call her fat and ugly? That is tastess but if she had been noticeably pregnant she should have been pulled out because it wouldn't fit the storyline at all. That didn't happen though. Also nothing Dusnt said has "offended" me. She's just a blabber mouth who seems to feel like she's the decision maker in the franchise by speaking for the director, Tobey, the production, revealing the villains way to early, talking about how there's no more stories to tell, then changing her mind, etc...She should really just talk about her role and whether "SHE" is interested in continuing it down the road.

she had better be joking...make sm4 low budget? lol she must be smokin that good weed if she thought about that seriously.

I think she just doesn't think before she speaks. She should have learned by now everything she says about Spider-Man is going to be put on the internet. And usually when reading the text it doesn't give you a clue as to whether she's joking or not unless the person doing the interview points it out like the above one.

It clearly sounded like a joke to me.

Once again, silly fanboys on the internet take things way too seriously. I actually thought the idea of a low budget style Evil Dead/Spider-man is kinda funny, this is not a big deal to me.

^ The evil dead thing was a joke but I think her comments about Spidey dying were just her attempting to conjur up a thought.

Which is what exactly? The overreaction to it is beyond ridiculous. I'm more offended by Keanu Reeves saying he is true to the Constantine character.

Did people actually call her fat and ugly? That is tastess but if she had been noticeably pregnant she should have been pulled out because it wouldn't fit the storyline at all.

SHE WASN'T PREGNANT! That's the whole freaking point. People posted and saw some stupid tabloid photos on here, "Kirst Dunst buys birth control! How could she get pregnant?! She's going to be fat and ugly! FIRE HER!" And this crap, this fire Dunst movement, this I hate Dunst movement that I have seen here for several years totally ticks me off and I HATE IT.

The one that was pregnant during filming was apparently Bryce Dallas Howard. And guess what? Some scumbags here saw set pictures of her and said she looked fat. Yup, that's really cool.

That didn't happen though. Also nothing Dusnt said has "offended" me. She is a crucial and significant part of this franchise, she has a right to express her opinion. She's not speaking for the director, but saying hey we could all probably use a rest right now. And you know maybe she's right. 2010 or not, whatever it is, Raimi has been working on this franchise virtually non-stop since 2000. She was the one on the set with him everyday so I'd say her opinion is more valid than any of ours.

People are asking her these questions and she answered them, that simple.

Anyone who lobbies so much hate onto someone who's done nothing good enough to deserve it needs to grow up.

And anyone who took her jokes seriously also needs to grow up.

Finally, someone speaks the truth; please people, bear in mind that these actors are more than tabloid fodder. They know certain things the rest of us don't, so their views are often more accurate.

Fanboys. Why so unforgiving? Tobey says something you don't like or Sam and you apologize for him. She says ANYTHING, you twist it around to call her "selfish" or "stupid" or whatever else. The only mistake she seems to really have made is giving away the villains early which had you all very happy, anyway.

Is she my ideal cast for Mary Jane Watson (-Parker, after this movie)? No. But is she a decent actress who has chemsitry with Tobey. Yes. She gave her all in the first, I think she didn't in the second but after seeing how good that movie was it looks like she threw herself into the third one from all her clips and is doing very well. Peter and MJ are the heart of this movie and if Tobey and Sam are back, I want her back to. No recasts. Those are annoying.

As for what she said...meh. The evil Dead thing was a joke. And I'm gonna' guess having worked with Sam for 7 years and us never meeting the guy, she may know him a little better than us. In his pictures he does look burnt out and he says he would like a break.

My guess if Tobey is gone, Sam is gone and vice versa and if they're gone Kirsten won't come back. She and Tobey seem loyal to Sam and Sam really likes working with them. Maybe he is tired. He has spent the last near decade of his life either in pre-production, production or post-production/marketing of a Spider-Man movie. I think the man has the right to be burnt out if he is and ready to move on.

I think she is basically saying she'll do it with Sam and Tobey again (also probably for the paycheck) but if one of those two pull out, they all pull out. And Sam has got to be tired as he has not been able to make a non-Spidey movie yet and has always been working and Tobey is ready to move on. Dunst despite critical acclaim for Marie-Antonnette probably needs the money these movies get her and recognition with general audiences.

I thought htat small interview was quite funny and fanboys tend to attack her for no reason.

I think its logical... Sam needs a break... everyone does after a trilogy... Peter Jackson and Spielberg come to mind... let the "team" go out on top... no need to make a hapass low budget flick... so sign a new director and new actors and REBUILD a new team from the bottom up... thats how it should be done... and Sony can easily make that happen by 2010...

Umm why?

Watch what would happen with Harry Potter if they just totally recast all the kids or other characters after several movies. It wouldn't be pretty.

Funny thing is in 2001 and 2002 people were saying the same things about the Harry Potter series that you guys are saying about Spider-man.

Sony and Marvel shouldn't sacrifice the integrity of what is without argument their crown jewel just so they they can meet certain release dates.

I agree 100%.

Daniel Radcliff and Co. probably aren't making 10-15 million a film so its cheaper... I just don't see why so many people are so naive to think that these actors just want to do the same thing over and over again for 15 years straight... its ludicrous... I don't want to see a 35 year old Parker... Dunst is still young but she is losing interest as well... the actors are getting old... at some point you need to move on.
