Something is red because that object ABSORBS all colors and only reflects red.

Therefore, all the colors that are reflected go into your eye and it decodes it into color. Something black has no color because all the light is being absorbed, therefore your eyes makes you see black. White is all the colors in the spectrum being reflected on the surface.

Once again you have it backwards.

JTIZZLEVILLE's answer is the one I know. The blue ball absorbs everything but blue, while reflecting blue. So blue light does enter my eyes.

But what you're saying for black and white makes sense -- black absorbs all colors, white absorbs no colors.

theres probably more too it... but in my color theory class i had 3 years ago, aparently there was some color study, where some how someone took 2 black and white projectors showing the same image on a wall... he lined them up over lapping them perfectly.. and some how the color version appeared on the wall... im probably missing some steps.. but either way sounds like witchcraft to me!
