For Your Eyes Only is just a superb thriller. I love it when the bad guys catch Bond at the start - no eleborate speeches, or throwing Bond to sharks, they just take him away to shoot him. It has a roughness and ergency to it that is very refreshing.

It also has the best action scenes in the series, one of the best Bond girls, and some very amusing sequences. I love the part where Bond almost gets shot because he doesn't want to ride in a Citroen. And the rock climbing stunt at the climax takes the breath away every time.

I don't really like the 80s Bond movies.

1. The Spy Who Loved Me: This is pure gold. Is it campy? Yes. Is it cartoonish? Yes. Is it bad though? Not at all. He plays Bond comically (though his murder of the bald guy at the beginning and Stromberg at the end were quite ruthless and cruel. Cool) with a sense of danger. Triple X is in my opinion the best Bond girl in the series (good one anyway) who has great sex appeal, Jaws is the best henchman besides Objob in the franchise and he is definetly threatening in this unlike in Moonraker. The action is entertaining, the gun fight on the boat is heart pounding and it ends with a big smile across your face on the final line.

2. For Your Eyes Only: The only serious Moore Bond movie. He plays it deadly, ruthless and cool. The gadgets are downplayed and the violence can be dramatic and powerful. A good Bond girl and one of the most satisfying conclusions in a Bond film (he doesn't get it but neither does the KGB, a realistic conclusion).

3. Live and Let Die: His first and probably best turn (besides FYEO) as James Bond. He is youthful and honest. He still uses guns and has no qualms killing and is head strong but humorous. The movie dates poorly (especially the climax with the shark and literally BLOWING UP Mr. Big) but still entertains with a great Bond girl and shows Bond is a bit of an A-hole in the end too.

4. Octopussy: Not a good movie, but a great seduction and some cool action but way too comical. The final scenes are terrible though. Bond in a clown suit? Wow.

5. The Man With the Golden Gun: The only reason this is not at the bottom is Christopher Lee.

6. A View to a Kill: The only reason this is not at the bottom is because of Christopher Walken and his death scene at the end.

7. Moonraker: 'Nuff said.

1. THE SPY WHO LOVED ME - Excellent, near-perfect entertainment. The only flaw is Barbara Bach's Triple-X, who it seems is just incapable of emoting. She's still hot, though.

2. MOONRAKER - Near-near-perfect entertainment. Roger's best performance, and overall just a really fun, great film. Audaciously over-the-top, but that's a wonderful thing. One of the most shamelessly entertaining, unpretentious Bond films around, and it does everywith with oodles and oodles of Bondian style.

3. THE MAN WITH THE GOLDEN GUN - Entertaining stuff, with a great villain in Christopher Lee. Roger's darkest performance.

4. LIVE AND LET DIE - Flawed, but it has a great atmosphere and Roger gives a good, generally serious performance. Great dialogue, as well.

5. FOR YOUR EYES ONLY - Drab and boring. Nothing of interest in this film aside from a decent ski chase. Furthermore, it's nowhere near as "serious" as some people claim. It's full of goofy, Moore-esque moments throughout. Still, seeing Topol as Columbo is great.

6. OCTOPUSSY - It tries, but it's ultimately just shabby.

7. A VIEW TO A KILL - Ugh. This film is the epitome of shabby. Roger's no longer at all convincing, the cast aside from Christopher Walken is poor, the action is boring, and it's just stained with the 80s.
