But Crusade is full of numerous silly and OTT moments that people always give a pass to. How about:
- The prologue with young Indy where he gets his chin scar, whip, fedora, fear of snakes and his love of relic-hunting all in one afternoon. Not to mention how he escapes from a moving train using a magic box he had no knowledge of how to use. This makes the raft stunt in TOD look plausible.
- The revolving fireplace.
- Indy tumbling down the hidden staircase and shouting out "Daaaad!" in such a comical way. And then there's the "Scottish lord" disguise.
- The plane in the tunnel.
- The pen ink squirting in the eye.
- The centuries-old Grail Knight (for me probably the single most unbelievable, out there moment in the entire series)
Not to mention the comical antics of Brody and Sallah, which for me are a way worse offender than Willie or Short Round or even Mutt. People always rag on the raft stunt or the fridge, yet they always give a pass to TLC's equally ridiculous and silly stuff. TLC went for straight-up slapstick. TOD wasn't without humor and it's share of OTT moments sure, but TLC cranks it up to the Nth degree. In many ways it paved the way for KOTCS which it shares a lot in common with, both are the more comical, OTT Indy movies.
