Ranking the Indiana Jones Series

1. Temple of Doom (Love that it's both dark and slapstick-goofy)
2. Raiders of the Lost Ark
3. Kingdom of the Crystal Skull
4. Last Crusade (Aside from being rehash-y, relies too much on Connery who I don't like much)

Raiders of the Lost Ark

Exactly the same as me. Rare to see them ranked like this.

I just realized I never actually ranked them in this thread.

1. Raiders of the Lost Ark
2. The Last Crusade
3. Temple of Doom
4. Kingdom of the Crystal Skull

I'm hopeful we'll get some big Indy 5 news after the release of Ready Player One (which is looking awesome so far).

Is it just me or do the bad guys' motivations in Last Crusade not make much sense (even aside from the surprise that eternal life can only be in the temple) ...

Nazis-There's no way to weaponize the Grail and its powers, admittedly there could just be the prestige of having the Grail and letting the leaders live longer.
Elsa-she wants the glory of finding the Grail but that would probably be outweighed by the shame of helping and being helped by the Nazis.
Donovan-says "Hitler can have the world but he can't take it with him" as if he would be the only one that would be allowed to drink from the Grail.

Never even thought of that but that's a valid point.

Other than it's a 2020 release and won't carry forward with Shia in it, nothing is known and I'm personally glad Lucas is not involved very much, if at all. Like you, am hoping for news this year, maybe in the Spring ?

I know he has little involvement with it, but it's also possible around the time of the new Jurassic film we could get some news from Spielberg. I'd imagine with only two years to go pre-production and writing will likely begin not overly long from now.

All I ask (which may be a lot to ask) but we have a return to Last Crusade / Raiders quality as apposed to KOTCS level.

I'd love to see it more like Temple Of Doom personally, much darker and harder-edged.

Not a massive Indy fan, but

1. The Last Crusade
2. Raiders of the Lost Ark
3. Temple of Doom

N/S Kingdom of the Crystal Skull

Raiders is still the best adventure movie ever made, and one of the best movies ever made period.

Crusade is second, Temple is third.

There are NO OTHER Indiana Jones films that I am aware of.

Quality wise, sorry, I meant Raiders/LC but yes, the TOD 'darkness' would be a welcome return.

Something more occult-oriented too would be cool like TOD. Maybe it could involve something like the Pazuzu statue, or if it wouldn't be that big a leap for the series, something relating to Cthulhu. Indy up against a Cthulhu cult might be a bit out there even for the series but it'd be something different and neat.

Just realized KOTCS turns 10 this coming year, how time has flown. Still remember the hype in the months leading to release and the reactions all over the internet.

1. Last Crusade
2. Raiders
3. Temple of Doom
4. Still trying to pretend it never happened.

i think most ppl will say

1) raiders
2) crusade
3) temple
4) kingdom

I would only see maybe some ppl switching around crusade and raiders, bc crusades was really really good.

That's the most common order, though it can occasionally vary depending who you ask and where. It'll be interesting to see the consensus on the fifth one when/if it's out.

I've seen some rank in the Young Indy TV show with the movies. It's been way too long since I last watched any to really remember. My main exposure to young Indy was the cool NES game which I've still yet to beat all these years later as it gets very tough later on. Indy video games are hit and miss, but this one is a really good one.
