What about Ghassan Massoud, the ever-so-regal Saladin from Ridley Scott's Kingdom of Heaven?

He's still in his 50s, and could perform the swordfighting if necessary.

He does mostly Middle-Eastern cinema, but he's also no stranger to Hollywood big productions.

On the subject of casting a Caucasian to play Ra's, I don't think it was a problem in Batman Begins because Ra's was amalgamated with Henri Ducard, who has always been Caucasian. So in a sense, Ra's Al Ghul was the leadership title of the League of Shadows, and that title was held by Henri Ducard.

I do think it was completely unnecessary in Arrow though, since to the best of my knowledge, that Ra's was simply Ra's. And they had previously cast the more competent Navid Negahban as a member of the League, so why not use him as the character?

Bottom-line, I also think it is time for a Middle-Eastern Ra's. It's not like there are no good Middle-Eastern actors around.

It was left deliberately vague. Either way, it doesn't matter. The man was born Henri Ducard and eventually took the name of Ra's Al Ghul, perhaps during his time as mercenary under the warlord. I'd say him being Caucasian in that specific circumstance is perfectly acceptable.

I agree. Bring on the pit. Of course, it has to be used sparingly, but I want a full-blown Ra's Al Ghul this time around.

We've gotten two really ****** versions of Ras on Arrow and in TDKT. Liam Neeson was a good casting choice wasted on a horribly written version of the character that betrayed everything that makes Ras interesting

I love TDKT FYI but the villains were not all perfect. Even his JOKER left more to be desired. I can't wait for the Ace chemicals, more faithful version in the DCEU

Eh I disagree, joker while being a key batman villain isnt exactly essential to every single batman story. Neither is alfred really. I love the joker, he's the greatest villains in CBM history but he can be over done. Although Ra's isn't essential either. I would say the inclusion of his character is important because i think Tahlia is a big part of bruce wayne mythology.
