I dont get the Gamespot review. They praised it on having great gameplay and controls and looking stunning with amazing graphics. They even said hte SIXAXIS portions were fun. The review itself isnt so bad but the score doesnt correspond with what was written. The only real complaints I saw there was that it was too easy, had too mcuh variety and a lacking story but in the same sentence said that this type of game is all about the gameplay which they admit is solid. If I didnt see the number, I would have thought the reviewer was going to give it at least an 8.5

To be brief, i really like this game.


to much vairety? sometimes i have to cycle through almost all my ammo on every gun... and then im left with nothing but the wrench, although to be honest i barely spend any screws on buying ammo... im to busy trying to get new armor and weapons.

the gameplay is just clean and great. the sixaxis stuff is fun but i still wonder when ill be wowed by these motion features, they still feel tacky to me, but fun none the less.

the graphics dont floor me, but to be honest i wasnt looking for that with this game, the worlds had the feel of toejam and earl for Xbox, only with a much better camera.

this is my first ratchet and clank game. im into the story... this game is a nice surprise, i was wondering when i would play anything besides warhawk on this big ol beast...

Penny-Arcade seems to have nothing but praise to say about this game. Further proof that Gamespot becomes more and more dumb@$$ with each high-profile non-Xbox review they write.

One thing to keep in mind, the guy who reviewed it is very hard on games. I'm probably misquoting it, but over the course of 150 reviews he has done, he's never rated a game above an 8.5. Ever. When you consider that context it puts things in a bit of a different light. The actual content of his review (the words) is pretty positive (I took the time to read the entire thing). Now what he cites as a negative (Variance) I think of as a positive, because I think that Ratchet and Clank games need all the change of pace and 'depth' that the developers could throw at it, but I think, aside from that, the review is well done, regardless of if his standards for review scores don't match up with the general standard for review scores, it's clear that, for him, what qualifies as a 9/10 is much different then most other people. I don't think it's worth getting worked up about.

Yeah thats what I was saying. I actually read the thing and it was positive as he was praising it but I didnt think the score connected with his words. Bt whatever, there are over a dozen other reviews which are giving the game a 9.

Even though online multiplayer seems it would be somewhat of a waste (it was never very popular in previous games) I don't think it would have been amiss to include a co-op mode or some sort of online component. I'll probably pick it up when ever it goes down in Price, maybe.

That begs the question though, why did Gamespot let him review it if they knew in advance that he was going to score it 1.5 lower than the average review? Gamespot has been at PS3's throat for months now, and this review signifies that they have no intention of letting up on the criticism even when Sony has started doing things right.

What's even worse, they've actually started taking negative editorials regarding PS3 from newspapers and other publications and reporting them as news stories. If that doesn't reek of an agenda, I don't know what does. Maybe Gamespot should just revive their editorials section so that the editors can stop trying to leak their biased opinions into the other parts of the site.

Heavenly Sword truly is a great game, just short. Doesn't mean it doesn't have great cinematics, graphics, or storytelling. I rented it and beat it, best money I spent in awhile.

thought the boss's AI was fine, and I do pick and choose. I rented Heavenly Sword because I won't pay $60 for 8 hours of gameplay. I just bought Ratchet and Clank (universally praised sans Gamespot), first new game since Rainbow Six: Las Vegas. Uncharted will be next
