Not only was the choreography good during the action, the action itself was very hard hitting. Like you FELT the blows and it felt visceral which is something I really appreciate and want in my action movies. A lot of action movie directors can choreograph a decent action or fight scene but you don't FEEL it when the combattants are fighting.

Yeah Wan knows how to shoot the hell out of a action sequence for sure. He's already done similar stuff with Furious 7 and a really underrated film called Death Sentence, but here he takes it even further. I also loved his dynamic camera work in The Conjuring 1 and 2. I will never get tired of those rotating/spinning camera angles. That is the main reason why I dug that land battle with Manta and his goons so much.

Agreed, I was surprised how real action scenes in submarine fight felt.

One more thing, during the final act, when the Karathen appears the background noise was so loud (with deep bass effects) that I could Feel my goddamn seat shaking, I thought I'm getting 4D experience while watching it in 3D. :funny:

Bruh that entire final battle was just ridiculous. Not since Avatar have I seen such insanity, but kudos for Wan going there and in just that one scene making this feel like the single biggest CBM ever in terms of scope and epicness. When those crab people showed up and started charging towards the other armies I had such a stupid grin on my face, because that is the kind of stuff I wanted to see in this movie. Everything involving the Karathen and the other sea creatures was just orgasmic lol.

Did anyone watch this in 3-D? That final set piece alone makes me wanna see it in that format. lol

I saw it in 3D, it was OK, in some scenes 3D effect looked great, in others it was barely noticable.

During the final set piece so much is going on that I did not notice 3D at all. Maybe in 2nd viewing.

It's only available in 3D here in dubbing and I am not listening to someone voice Jason, I'd have a stroke

I would like to hear experiences of people watching this movie in 4DX.

This movie has some of the best 360 degree camera work to film action scenes and continuous pan shots to film action.

The stunt choreography was great too. Other favorite thing was use of wide shots showing landscape and under sea scenes that gave this movie a great sense of scale.

Some of the goofy / cheesy moments worked for me, like Topo playing drums.

I liked the Brine king too and crab people's army looked like Dwarves army from Hobbit/Lotr movies. Fun fact - the voice actor for Brine King played Gimli.

I'm not trying to down the people at Collider, because I actually like them for the most part, but why the hell were they bothered so much by that Octopus playing the drums? Granted, for all I know other critics could have been complaining about it too, but was that really anymore ridiculous than the other million things we see in this movie like roaring sharks or people riding on giant fricking seahorses? I was waiting for that scene with that damn Octopus the whole time expecting something truly crazy, but nope it felt completely in tone with the rest of the film. I just don't get people sometimes man lmao.

As someone who watches Collider... their review(s) of Aquaman seem unusually harsh. It seemed as if Kristian liked the movie but wasn't allowed to say he did. It's weird. I couldn't get behind their review. A lot of people couldn't, if you see the like/dislike ratio.

Anyone here was disappinted by that mid credits scene ?

Okay, I finally saw it this morning, and it was good, but not great. I don't know, I'm a little conflicted at the moment because there are things about it (like the incredible visuals and sheer scope for example) that are really very well done and make me incredibly glad that I saw it at the theatre, like it should be seen. But at the same time, there were quite a few negatives for me too which I unfortunately have to knock some points off for. Some of the dialogue is truly cringe-worthy, a lot of the action scenes, despite being visually beautiful, are overly long and muddled (an issue I've found with all the DCEU entries so far), some of the music choices were abysmal, the Black Manta side-plot was pretty much totally pointless and could have been removed from the film completely without effecting the main plot at all (leaving Black Manta to be the main villain of the sequel) and it's just way too long in all.

Like I said, if they'd removed the Black Manta plot (therefore shortening the run time by about 20 minutes), tightened the editing and pacing up a bit and made an effort to improve the dialogue, this easily could have been an 8 or 9 out of 10 for me, but those issues have knocked it down to a 6.5 out of 10, which I've rounded up to 7 for this vote because, despite my complaints, there is a lot to love about this movie and it is overall very entertaining.

This movie and WW certainly seem to be pointing to a much brighter future for the DCEU and I'm definitely on board for it.

Man, I can't stop listening to Skylar Grey's song (Everything I need.)

Saw it yesterday, went in with low expectations and had a fun ride. Definitely better than BvS and JL. Not to the level of Wonder Woman. There were some of the action sequences that felt a little long/could’ve been trimmed down a bit. And as I think others have said, there was a cheesiness factor kind of throughout....

for example the kiss with Mera, given that it was in the middle of a battle, if it had been just a quick kiss I would’ve been okay with it. But it was this long drawn out thing with explosions in the background that had me rolling my eyes a bit

Loved the cast, Momoa is Aquaman. He clearly has a blast with the character. All in all, better than I was expecting. Would gladly see it in the theater again if I get the chance and will definitely get it in home release

It's not like she could stop kissing him.....I'm surprised she did stop at all :D

I was seriously worried after hearing all the complaints about the random pop songs in this, and while I didn't really care for any of them there was honestly only two that I actually disliked, because they were so misplaced and that was the Pitbull song and the song during Black Manta's montage. I don't think you needed any music in those scenes, but if they wanted music in in them it should have been something more subtle IMO.

Gave it a 9. My favorite of the DCEU movies so far (the only one I was "eh" on was Suicide Squad), and the only things I didn't like were:

1. The actor playing teen Arthur was pretty bad
2. Those song choices were questionable. Didn't quite annoy, like a certain Mortal Kombat 11 trailer though, but this one's more of a nitpick.

Loved everything else. I thought it paced great, especially with how much was crammed in there. Loved the practical costumes too, especially Black Manta's.

I was smiling like an idiot when Aquaman was riding on a giant Seahorse-dragon thing into battle.

Wan redeemed that image of Aquaman on a Seahorse in Superfriends cartoon.
Haha, totally. Can’t ever look at that the same way again.
