Brandon Routh was wow.....

Brandon owned Dean Cain

Brandon owned George Reeves

Brandon OWNED Tom Welling :p ....eaaasily :D

Whether Brandon owned Chris Reeve is a sensitive issue, but personally I prefered Brandon 100 fold to Chris.

Chris played this one dimensional 'dont play with fire kids' boyscout.....Brandon had a more mature personality and depth....reminded me of the characterization of the postcrisis Superman.

One thing is for certain, Brandon definately carries the Torch from Chris Reeve and is the Superman for this generaton :)

Seriously, both characters didn't have enough screentime for me to come to a conclusion on Routh's performances. I guess I can say he left me wanting more. That good, isn't it?

Routh didn't really impress me and I'm left with the impression he won't be parlaying this role into a career like Hugh Jackman capatilized on Wolverine.

Ummm......what?

He's definitely on board for 2 sequels, and he has gone from being a total unknown to the hottest thing around right now. Tell me who the hell wouldn't want to sign him up for any role he may fit? Dude was great.

Has Hugh Jackman parlayed his role as Wolverine into a career? Maybe a career in X-Films. Don't really recall seeing his name receive top billing in any other big films besides the X-Franchise. Maybe that's why they're rushing the Wolverine film into theaters next year. Maybe (besides theatre) that's all he has going right now.

He had enough screentime for me and during what time he had, he sold his dialouge perfectly.

That horror movie reaction from Clark made the whole audience laugh. Im sure they loved him as did the vast vast majority of reviewers.

Brandon is a keeper...

I am totally in love with Routh. He won me over right after I got over laughing about how young he looked when he walked into the plane after the rescue scene. I just couldn't help myself, but after that I fell totally in love with him. His Clark was also spot on. I really enjoyed watching him act as the fly on the wall. I would have love to see more Routh Superman, but it was blended nicely.

I gave his Kal performance a high rating, but that's just because of that one scene at the farm. Most of that seems to have been cut, so we really didn't get much. I was hoping to see the scene in the barn where he is reading the newspapers.

le sigh...the DVD needs to come out sooner rather than later.

Um...
X-Men (2000)
Someone Like You (2001)
(aka "Animal Attraction")
Swordfish (2001)
Kate & Leopold (2001)
Standing Room Only (2002)
(short film)
X2: X-Men United (2003)
Van Helsing (2004)
The Fountain (2005)
Flushed Away (2006)
(animation)
Happy Feet (2006)
Good (2006)
X-Men 3 (2006)

There's only 2 X movies in there since X-Men. And don't underestimate his stage work.
Routh is signed for 2 sequels, great, but other than that I don't think he'll get a lot of work. As for being 'the hottest thing going' right now, well I should hope so - a 200 million dollar movie just opened.

Brandon Routh won me over as well tonight, he was simply a perfect casting choice and now I can see no one playing the role. He simply was Clark Kent/Kal El/Superman just as Christian Bale was Bruce Wayne/Batman. Perfect, absolutly perfect.

In fact my only complaint with the entire film is that we simply did not get enough of him.

If the Superman films are successful, I could definately see them going way beyond just three.....and Routh seems excited enough to likely continue for them.

As far as other roles, you'll have to ask Brandonrouth.com. Hes got ALOT of offers even before Returns came out (thanks to connections and positive buzz in inner circles about his work).....hopefully he picks something great.

Routh was great. I still see Reeeve as Superman. But Routh is next in line. But I think Reeve just really added a lot to both roles. The scene I am really thinking of was what he did when he took off his glasses at Lois Arpartment to tell her he is Superman. I don't think Routh could have pulled that off. Reeve really made them seem like two totally different people.

Brandon, you did good. I was always behind you from back in 2001 or 2002 when that Halloween pic was taken. It is just, Reeve is still my Supes.

Brandon did great!!! :D I wanted to see more of him in the movie, but hey that's what sequels are for!

I loved the movie, i was blown away by the special fx. And Routh looked huge. even the small "s" was unoticable.

Routh owned as Superman and Clark, didnt see much Kal-El in the film.

I said big films. I don't exactly count "Kate and Leopold" and "The Fountain" in this category. The one non-X big-budget film he was supposed to carry was "Van Helsing," and that didn't really turn out so well...

will be posting my review of Routh later. right now all i see are Zzzzzzz

yea i admit... when i was watching this movie... i was saying to myself... that guy IS superman. those action sequences were just incredible. routh did an amazing job as clark too... everyone loved his awkwardness

per·so·na (pr-sn) The role that one assumes or displays in public or society; one's public image or personality

as Superman he plays the role of a savior, as Clark Kent in Metropolis he plays the role of a mild mannered reporter, as Clark Kent on the farm he can be himself. 3 different personalities for 1 character...

...how is that flawed?

Owned.

...and we never hear from greyghost again.

Now that you've seen Brandon Routh's performance in the film, what is your assesment of him as:

1.) Clark Kent:

2.) Kal-El:

3.) Superman:

Brandon Routh as SUPERMAN/KAL-EL/CLARK KENT - The Mantel of SUPERMAN has been pass on to the right Man. Routh is SUPERMAN his acting was beyond Super, It's SUPERB!!!. He nailed all three presona's . As SUPERMAN, he was strong confidentand he looked and acted like THE MAN OF STEEL. His voice as Sups was strong & powerful, very deep yet he had the soft smooth caim voice . As Kal-EL he really impressed me he show both the side of Kal-EL The Son who tries live to honor his Family [EL] & his speical race's Legacy. As Clark, He wasn't so much the bumbling reporter like Reeve, This Clark had a little more confindents in himself. He still pretented to act like the fool, but still you could see a difference between Routh's Clark & Reeve's Clark .

I give him 10/10 for all three

I was at the first showing last night with 5 friends who are all devout Reeves fans and he won them over. I was already convinced from reading interveiws, seeing him on TV and such, I had the confidence in Singer's choice and confidence in Brandon.

He's not Brandon doing an impression of any of the previous actors or a combination of them, he simply "is" Sumperman as if he jumped from my conciousness onto the screen. His performance is pitch perfect and nuanced so perfectly that you actually see him as the character and not an actor.

I gotta say that the scene with him flying and just about tearing up was such an emotional scene that I could have lost it if I had a couple more beers before seeing it.

I can't wait for the sequels to see what he does when he settles into the role more.

Saw it last night and I will be seeing it several more times. He gets a 10 out of 10 on all fronts ... just wished we could have seen more Kal-El.

he was ok....

i knew he was gonna be robot talking for a year now so i got used to it...

3s all across

Brandon is a keeper...

My favorite "Clark moment" was in the elevator. Everyone is reading the paper after Superman returns and Lois looks over and Clark gives this awkward wave. It's classic!

I didn't like the way Routh looked in the pictures but I loved SR and was totally blown away by how well Routh acted.

His voice for Clark to Supes was way better than Bale's Bruce to Batman.
