Raven: An In-Depth and Lengthy Analysis on the Most Important Teen Titan

What, so I'm not allowed an opinion? That's stupid.

Oh, the ingenious wit. How am I supposed to contend with this?
All opinions are equal, it's just that some are apparently more equal than others.

New lease on life? This isn't the first time she's been resurrected.

She was dead, she was resurrected. Explain to me how that isn't a new lease on life!

And that "excuse" certainly doesn't work, because for the first few issues, Raven acted, well, like Raven. It did look like GJ had a good concept of who she was and how she'd react. But from about #16-30, it just all came down, for some inexplicable reason. It just doesn't make any sense.

The new Raven is impulsive, aggressive, sarcastic, derisive, and a hundred other things she would never become.

Like you said, this is just your opinion, not a fact. My opinion is that there is sufficient evidence as to why she doesn't behave like she behaved in the begining. We're never gonna agree, so I guess there's nothing else to post.

You could always make fun of him more. Thats what I would do.

I thought it would be inconsiderate to invade your territory.;):D

I agree with TalonTheater on this one, I don't really like the changes Geoff Johns made to Raven.

Just to clear things up, I started reading Teen Titans comics with Volume 3 (the current line)...in fact I started reading the comics in the first place BECAUSE of Raven.

I liked her just as much as I expected too...and I found her struggle to adjust to being a sixteen-year-old interesting. She was alive again, in a younger body, learning to deal with the world again.

She was interesting, and I found the budding attraction between herself and Gar to be really cute.

The Teen Titans comics were pretty good too, they kept me interested.

Then I got my hands on some of the Wolfman and Perez comics...and I gotta say this...they are so much better than the current stuff!

The writing, artwork, characters...all of it is just so much better from what little I've read of the Wolfman and Perez titles.

Raven included.

She's so much more interesting in those issues...and she's very different now.

She does seem to act like her toon counterpart from time to time (who I liked, but don't want to see in the comics unless it Titans Go!.).

I can understand that she's sixteen again, I understand that she's falling in love with an older and more mature Garfield Logan, but her attitude and dialogue isn't the same. And to be honest...it kinda annoys me.

I liked the way she spoke and acted before (and she was like that for a short period of time when she returned for Vol.3) and I just don't really care for the way she's written now.

I didn't mind when I started reading the comics, but now that I've had a taste of the rich material from Wolfman and Perez...well...it's just not the same.

I still love the character...I just love her even more the way she was before. (I'm not digging the new costume either from what I've seen of it, looks too much like the 2003 toon's costume. Dull! Her original costume is so much nicer. It's much more elegant...like she used to be. But I guess they needed a new costume to match her new personality).

she is the most popular animated teen titan- maybe they are trying to recreate that in the comic realm by giving her similar qualities?

Thank you, Mandi-chan.

That tv show should never influence the "original" thing. Besides, TNTT was infinitely more popular the the tv show ever could have been.

Who the **** thinks Raven is the most important Titan? Thats just ****ing stupid.

hey i didn't say it was right! I love animated raven but i see her and her comic counterpart as two different things. DC want to sell comics and if making raven like the animated version sells they will do that.

Granted, not the most important Titan, but of the Wolfman Four, yes.

TalonTheater's got a point.

I mean even if there are reasons to justify such a drastic change in Raven's character doesn't mean Johns should.

I mean if Batman was slipped a drug by someone that made him go crazy and kill Lois then Superman walks in on this and in a fit of rage kills Batman, well you can certainly justify that but should someone write something like that?

Still, you can't deny that she's being written completely differently (and obviously, in my opinion, for the worse) than she ever has been. Understandably, I'm not particularly happy about it.

If there was justice in this world, Raven would have her "Just Becuase" thread by now.....

here are pics to tide zeu over

Almost any argument looks bad when you take the most insignificant point of it and make fun of it. It should be obvious to anyone who's followed the character, really.

always one to rise to the occasion

This is Raven's favorite song:

What's up

25 years of my life and still
I'm trying to get up that great big hill of hope
For a destination
I realized quickly when I knew I should
That the world was made up of this
Brotherhood of man
For whatever that means
So I cry somethimes when I'm lying in bed
To get it all out what's in my head
Then I start feeling a little peculiar
So I wake in the morning and I step
Outside I take deep breath
I get real high
Then I scream from the top of my lungs
What's goin' on
And I say hey...
And I say hey what's goin' on
And I say hey...
I said hey what's goin' on
And I try, oh my God do I try
I try all the time
In this institution
And I pray, oh my God do I pray
I pray every single day
For a revolution
So I cry sometimes when I'm lying in my bed
To get it all out what's in my head
Then I start feeling a little peculiar
So I wake in the morning and I step outside
I take a deep breaththen I get real high
Then I scream from the top of my lungs
What's goin' on
And I say hey...
And I say hey what's goin' on
And I say hey...
I said hey what's goin' on
And I say hey...
And I say hey what's goin' on
And I say hey...
I said hey what's goin' on
25 years of my life and still
I'm trying to get up that great big hill of hope
For a destination
