That has got to be the funniest thing I've read on the internet in a very long time.
It belongs on a t-shirt.

Okay, let's start with "misstake." ;)

If I have to. That should have been "What, are you trying to teach me a lesson, old man?" (They're called commas and question marks.)

I'm sure I'm coming off as a big ol' meanie by now, so I tell you what, kiddo, I'm gonna just wander off to the park on my walker to feed the pigeons and wait for death. In the meantime you may have the last illiterate word. There's only so many fish in this barrel I care to shoot.

Sorry, everybody. I really am a nice guy unless somebody attacks me personally for no reason. Really, I am.

right on!

I gave up reading this thread about halfway, so forgive me if I touch on a point already covered... I'm also new to the boards... so... hi! Let me warn you in advance I'll probably be more like Malus than the kid who can't spell. ;) Boy... what a way to start off on the wrong foot, eh? Ah, well... It seems people are pretty irrational online so... if ya can't beat 'em... well, you know.

Aaaaaanywaaaay... now that that's over with... lemme just say I, too, think "Fantastic 4 and The Silver Surfer" is a crap, crap, CRAP name for the film. More to the point, I think it DOES matter to the movie's success. Audiences aren't stupid (well... that's debatable) and they can sense a cheap film by something like a bad title. It's no different to a company with a half-arsed logo or web design... Their professionalism, services or whatever don't mean much if people are turned off by the first impression.

Take a look at the titles of the bigger, more successful or timeless sagas in film... They either stick with the tried and true formula of numerical sequels OR they're clever like "Star Wars: Episode... yada yada yada", which - admittedly - changed upon release... or "Pirates of the Caribbean", which seemed to predict its success early enough to ensure quality titles. Yes... "Fantastic 4 and The Silver Surfer" could be likened to "Indiana Jones and The Last Crusade" etc. but I don't think many people will fall for that.

People generally have an awareness of the Silver Surfer character, as much as any other second-tier comic character... so - as it stands - the title is no different than calling Tim Burton's second Batman film "Batman, Catwoman and The Penguin" or calling the Spider-Man sequel "Spider-Man and Dr. Octopus"! It just sounds plain dopey, if you ask me (which... granted... nobody did).

I say Fox need to smarten their act up a bit with these franchises and look at the big picture. Call it "Fantastic Four 2" (note the differentiation in spelling out "Four" - it's pretty distinct) or "Fantastic Four: SOMETHING the Silver Surfer", though I can't think of the best word to fit just yet... To be honest, why even use "the Silver Surfer"? Won't the advertising express his importance to the film enough?

*Sigh*

Sorry for the long post... I just think decisions like this ARE more important than some people seem to think. They can decide the difference between a film that lives on as cheap or classy, clever or half-arsed.

Hopefully, Fox are still considering it.
