It’s definitely not a remake. We’re not going to tell the origin story of the Hulk. Reboot? It’s harder to say. I think the tone will shift. We all loved the action [in the first one], and I like a lot of the creature stuff and I liked the performances in the movie. What I didn’t like was the father/son stuff. Honestly I didn’t like the dogs.

I felt – weirdly since I get so much **** for ****ing with the continuity on X-Men 3, which not all of which was my doing but some of which is – I feel like on the Hulk that was one which didn’t need to be revamped. I didn’t like that the Hulk was something his dad injected into him as opposed to him being a repressed guy with all this rage to unleash.

The other thing is that there’s something about the tone of the TV show – despite the fans’ insistence on going with ‘Hulk smash’ and all that stuff- there’s something about the man on the run with a dark secret, Jekyll and Hyde, theme that we could do more with. There wasn’t much of that in the Hulk movie. I can’t think of one scene where he was trying to solve his problem while keeping it a secret from anyone. To me that’s essential to the Hulk. That’s what’s great about the Bruce Jones run [in the comics]. When I read that, I thought, ‘This is a Hulk movie.’ You know, with the laptop and Mr. Blue. We’re using all that stuff. I think it uses the tone of the TV show but keeps the scope as big as you want with a Hulk movie. The problem with the TV show is that you don’t want a guy running around in green paint knocking walls over. It’s a matter of combing that tone with a bigger scope, and that’s what we’re doing. So I don’t know what to call that. I felt like we should keep as much continuity as we can while changing the tone. That’s my personal preference.

So its not a remake, but the Mr. Blue and laptop stuff is bad. Nivek, please try and not have a heart attack. I will be at comic con this weekend and will try and get more info.

Well thank god more and more people achknowledge that this is not a remake......Who's Bruce Jones and Mr.Blue?

Sounds great to me. Didn't realize you posted this here. I submitted this to the front page and then came here. :) BTW this is exactly what I've been saying since Avi said "do over". He didn't mean do over..he meant make over. Marvel isn't that freaking stupid to retell the Hulk Origin. Also The Hulk was not injected into Banner. What was injected into banner stimulated the sleeping monster inside of him that was already there.

No...no...not Bruce Jones' run! Never again never again! *Jumps into pirahna tank, but notices they're not attacking* ......crap

ok, so it's not a re-do, but basicly changing it is still full of awesomeness.

Meh, it won't top the TV series in the realm of emotion, and Eric Bana will never draw the same sympathy as Bill Bixby did, out of the fans....

Yeah, I was watching the Incredible Hulk this morning on Sci-Fi and Bill Bixby made the character really hekpful and nice.

Peter David SMASH puny Bruce Jones!

Jenkins Could Smash Jones!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

DAMN IT ALL! :( :(
The news just gets worse and worse. Why would Marvel put forward a plot from a run that they had to retcon out of existence? Because it was so broadly disliked by Hulk fans. :doom: :doom:

Could someone explain to those who aren't well-versed in Hulk comics what "Mr. Blue and the laptop" are?

Exactly. Hulk is a manifestation of something already existing in Bruce's mind. All of that preamble showing David's notes, none of them spoke of any emotional suppressing effects. That means that it was something Bruce would have, regardless of whether David passed on his corrupted dna.
The nanomeds and gamma radiation are just an excuse to explain a reason for why Bruce changed into Hulk. If all that treatment does is turn people in to big green goliaths, why David turn out so different?

Bruce was on the run from some super spy group(or something, I haven't read that run since it came out, and it's not really worth remembering). He had a laptop that a secretive character had gotten to him, Bruce would get info and intel from "Mr Blue" over the laptop, allowing him to stay ahead of the game.
In the end it turned out Mr Blue was infact Betty brought back from the dead. It involved lots of cloak and dagger and Hulk was not present much. Hell there was time when Bruce was a minor character as Jones focused on some of the people hunting Bruce. It was really slowly paced, and got dull fast.

Is that Keeley in your avatar Sava?

As long as its more like the TV series then i think it'll be ok.

Reading the whole post, it has some ideas that I like, the whole theme of Bruce being a fugitive. I remember the first few issues of the Bruce Jones run were actually pretty liked, it was later on that it started to get hated and stuff.

Yes i like the sound of the fugitive stuff and i have no idea who Bruce Jones is

Well my only hope is that they will just use a base of Mr. Blue but the Hulk will have to appear allot more because anything else will have the movie bomb. The way this movie is marketted is the Hulk being in it allot more....

BJ was a comic book writer who had a run with TIH and started great but f**ked it up with haveing no Hulk is some issues and stuff like that. They got back PAD and he made it so that BJ's run is completely wiped out of continuity

Was one of his arcs where Bruce is bald and there's a stunning piece of art with Hulk landing on top of a car ?
