Supes has had great comics, good animated series and actual decently-made and popular forays into live-action, unlike Goku. The sheer amount of media he's had ensures that some of them will suck (and don't even pretend that doesn't apply to Goku too), but his symbol is one of the most-recognizable in the world, and what it represents crosses language and cultural barriers all over the world. Only reason I know who Goku is is because my brother went through an anime phase that didn't last. If anyone outside of Japan and anime nerds knows who Goku is in 50 years, you can come say "I told you so."![]()
The exact same thing applies to Goku too. Goku is THE iconic anime/manga character and it's popularity is not something that's just restricted to Japan, or even Asia. I'm Australian, Reek is American, Jokes is British, Perfect Cell is Canadian. There are literally public events throughout South and Central America celebrating the character and franchise. People dig the character, regardless of culture.
Now I'm not saying he's more well-known or even commenting on the quality of the two figures, but to deny the character and his home franchise's status as icons? Yeah, that's just asinine.
