Comics Reasons to keep reading Spider-Man

Wow that had so many contradictions in one sentence lol :D
But the final point stands true :spidey:

Yup. And you know what? I feel a song coming on!

"I have no belief
But I believe
I'm a walking contradiction
And I ain't got no right"

(from "Walking Contradiction" by Green Day.)

So far the unmasking has been handled well, characters have all been handled well, minus the Flash Thompson reverting back to "Puny Parker" phase and spitting on Paul Jenkins Green Goblin story.

Amazing Spider-Man # 533 was JMS' turning point issue. Of course Peter had his "balls" all along. It seems most Spider-Man fans don't like it when Peter has good things happen to him. He became an Avenger. He is living, rent free, in the Avengers Tower. His wife is hot. His Aunt is finding love with Jarvis, and happier than ever. Stark just gave him a new costume that better protects him, and helps utilize his powers more...which not many writers have explored too often, which bugs me....but...

And in # 533 we see Peter after taking the mask off really having the feeling that he probably did the right thing in the eyes of the government, Tony Stark, and the pro registration heroes. But did he do the right thing for himself? And, yes, while many posters here will go, "Well, DUH! That's what we've been clamoring about forever!". Yeah, but then it wouldn't have been a story, now would it have? I mean, sure it would have been nice to see Peter Parker go, "Tony, take this new costume...shove it up your ass. Take this nice apartment and shove it up your ass because I'm supposed to be a loner hero! I'm supposed to be living in a crappy apartment, struggling for rent! I'm not supposed to have teammates who will support me and give me nice things for all the lives I've saved during my tenure as Spider-Man!" But it's not in Peter's character, nor would it have made for a story.

Sensational Spider-Man has been pretty good. I'm not too keen on Crain's digital artwork on a Spider-Man title, he does make the new suit look pretty kick ass. But the Doc Ock reaction was fantastic. And with the Chameleon returning to the book, and seeing that Sacasa is down with strong continuity. I see great things for this book.

Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man. I like the current arc with the alternate reality Uncle Ben. The Hobgoblin of 2211 and the retcon bombs. Just a fun little story that explores some plot details and different possibilities. Though it does remind me too much of all the Earth 1, 2, blah blah of DC. But it's a fun little escape. But what I'm looking forward to is when Peter David and company begin their foray into the Spider-Man unmasking with the return of Mysterio. Will it be the new Mysterio spawned from Spider-man/Black Cat? Will it be Daniel Beckhart? Definitely looking forward to that.

Honestly, there is more reason now, than ever, to be reading Spider-Man comics. But if you're a person still hung up on Sins Past...and The Other...then maybe this isn't something for you. There are plenty of fantastic comic books being released today to bide your time.
