Has anyone read the "Reborn Again" story in Spider-Man #93 July 1998 22 pages

I found this information on wikipedia it sounds interesting...

Noble Kale, in the final issue of the 1990s Ghost Rider series, killed Blackheart and apparently claimed the throne of one of Marvel's many realms of Hell. However, with the return of Mephisto, who was responsible in part for Kale becoming the Ghost Rider, Kale may have been deposed from that realm. Since Kale and Danny Ketch merged again in a Spider-Man comic directly before the release of the 2001 miniseries, there is no clear answer as to where Kale actually is or to whom, if anyone, he is bonded. In that same Spider-Man comic, the Ghost Rider, before re-bonding with Ketch, dropped hints that the Noble Kale origin may be false or at least misunderstood. Additionally, in the 2001 miniseries, the Ghost Rider killed humans, an action Kale specifically refused to commit.

People have said that this was Mackie's way of taking back his version of Ghost Rider and completely debunking the storyline Valez, Jr. came up with due to Mackie's disdain for it. Looks like he took advantage of the fact that he was writing Spiderman to give his Ghost Rider supposed proper closure.

Now that I know what issue it is, I can look for it.

Ya I have this issue, funny thing is there was an issue of Daredevil that came out just before this with Ghost Rider.

The art on GR in that Spidey issue is terrible. He has a red skull, lame. Maybe the worst version of Ghost Rider I've seen, besides Pop Mahn of course. Great issue though. He more or less just says everything Valez wrote was a bunch of lies.

The coloring is horrible, I agree, but the lineart of John Romita, Jr. looks great on that cover.

Art by Javier Saltares...
:(
Not his best moments, of course.
He will be making the art for the new title. Well,...
Whatever.
I´ve seen 6 months of Clayton Crain.
That was enough to keep my GRHARDCOREFAN beating some more.
Crain should do the monthly title, but it´s just me.

I'm a huge Javier fan, so I was a little shocked about the art in that issue. Althoug I'm pretty sure it's the coloring that makes it look bad. The rest of it's fine. As far as Crain goes, I loved what de did with the character. He gave GR an epic cinematic look, but I'm glad it's Tex/Salteres on the new one. I'd like to see some of Crain's work without computers. He has a video of him drawing Ghost rider on his site that looks amazing.

He's also selling a limited GR print. He just e-mailed me to let me know he shipped it out. He's got a few left if anyone wants one.

When I asked them about this particular issue, both Mackie and Velez said that the retcon of the Noble Kale end of GR vol. 2 was editorally mandated. Mackie, in fact, said that he'd never read Velez's run on the book due to being too close to the characters (being their creator and all).

Ixnay...hey man where you been? we miss your site big time :(
any plans for it to come back?

I have the Spidey issue and was enfuriated with the hints of them dropping the Noble Kale stuff.

The DareDevil I'm getting very soon in a shipment from mycomicshop.com. I'm fillin' in a lot of holes in my Dan Ketch collection, folks. After this, I'll need very few. Mwa ha ha... Wait... then what will I do?... ****.

i agree i just went thru and collected all 93 issues of vol. 2 in about a month(as well as the other more recent mini series and some collabos)....now i feel like what the hell will i do now:confused:

Indeed. Fortunatly, or unfortunatly, I live in a place that makes comic collecting difficult. Lack of selection. I do some shopping online but, I like the fun of the hunt, hand on experience, ya know?

well im sorry its hard to get comics that sux. but ill tell ya some of the later issues of gr vol 2 was a b**** to get(cough issue 93 cough).

Indeedy. Those are the ones I've been trying to secure for a long time now. Impossible to find really, even online in a lot of places. I dont' know if I'll ever have 93 because that's the biggest ***** of em all I say. It's probably easier to get the first appearance of Ghost Rider even than it is to get issue 93.

Bastards.

Thats where I just did my first ever online order (besides ebay) actually. I seen that issue there but decided to go with all Dans stuff instead. 1 reprint vs 3 special appearances of Ghost Rider just doesn't add up.

Strange. It was easy for me to find the final 6 issues of Ghost Rider than it was for me to fill in issues 77 through 87. I actually found issues 88 through 93 on my first run back in 2002 to complete the series (although looking back on it now, I should have saved my money).

Hell, I still see the latter issues more than the recent issues. I have no idea why, but I still check the Ghost Rider bin for GR2099 and Dark Design. I still only ever find issue 9.

I can't find the latter anywhere... though, I have very few choices where I live. Very small center with limited selection... and I have em all picked clean of Ghost Riders.

I still haven't gotten a hold of that Dark Design one either. I'm dying to read it, actually.

I'm willing to kill to read it.

I've got the Dark Design comic, some of the best artwork from Garney's run on GR is in this comic.
