[rec]

i saw [REC] for the first time 2 nights ago. Probably the best REAL horror film i've seen in a LONG time. The last 15 or so minutes were absolutely the most frightening i've ever experienced. The night vision enhanced the feeling too. My god. I love this movie. A friend is hooking me up with a copy, too. So now i can show more people. Such a great movie.

I'm interested in seeing Quarantine, just to see how it is, but i'm a little put off by some of the changes they made. Notably
changing it from the Vatican agent explaining that this is possibly some sort of demonic infection and replacing it with some intensified rabies virus. Basically, the supernatural element adds in a possibility, which is scarier because you don't know. Add that to the fact that demonic possession is scary as **** to begin with. It heightened the fear at the end for me. The intensified rabies thing is a solid fact in the remake, which i don't like. Not really as scary.

anyone know if or when [REC] is getting an American DVD release? Probably when the remake does, right?

Just watched [REC] tonight. That.... was absolutely terrifying.

I'll probably have to put myself through watching it again to get the full experience, as by the time I got to the film's climax I was watching with the volume at zero with my knees shielding me from the screen. It's been a long while since a movie's scared me like that.

What I think worked about the film so well was that, like "The Descent", there was no safe quarter. Once things got going, it was just a non-stop ordeal of terror that kept on escalating right until the end. And like "The Descent", I actually found myself looking at my watch and judging it off the running time to figure out how many miinutes were left, not because I was bored, but because I was anxious about how much longer the scares were going to last, thinking "how much more do I have to endure?"

The film was perfectly structured, the way the tension ramped up and the dread slowly built, until they went all-out with a full-on, non-stop explosion of terror. And just when you think you're finally getting a moment's respite, that dread creeps up on you again, and then we're into the scariest part of the whole film. No "weak third act" problems here!

Really terrifying. I'll be sleeping with the bedroom door locked tonight!

Wow i just finished watching this and it was pretty ****ing intense, at the start it was pretty predictable with some of the things but about half way into i was gripped! Probs one of the best "Cam corder movies" i have seen, knocks spots off blair witch, cloverfield and dairy of the dead!

I really liked this, if i can get hold of the dvd im buying it!!

9/10!

omg i cant wait for rec 2
rec was without any exagerration the scariest movie ive ever seen

I bloody hate american trailer "choppers".

I looked up the trailer for [Rec], ok it was cool.
I looked up the trailer for Quarantin, ok it will do, looks a like (oh snap it's a remake).

I go and watch [REC] - yeah it's good but I saw worse movies, this wasn't that scary.
But the end was totally spoiled for me. Why would they make America's trailer end be the movie end?

That sucked...thank you.

Saw this on Sky last night, definately lived up to the hype, and the first movie to scare me in years (well since The Descent anyway), the slow build-up was a great way of unpreparing you for the final act, were it just became more and more terrifying. Great movie, not sure whether to bother with Quarantine now.

9/10 for me

dont!

Qurantine isn't as bad as people say, but i still say REC is slightly better.

When's REC coming to dvd in the US?

I dont think it's ever going to get one. From what i understand, on all the special features on the "Quarantine" DVD, the fact that it's a remake was never mentioned at all. So they might not wanna take the thunder(if it ever existed) away.

I do know, however, that you can buy it from the Canadian Amazon site(www.amazon.ca) as a region 1, ntsc DVD.

Well that kind of sucks, I was curious to see it...well, mainly the supposedly shocking/scary ending.

yea, it does. The fact that it's being clouded over in the US is a shame. But as i said, you can buy the DVD from Amazon.com's Canadian website. If you live in the U.S., the DVD should work on your DVD player.

Only problem is, much like the remake and just about every other 1st person perspective film, there is little to no replay value for me.

I think I watched Blair Witch and Cloverfield once more on DVD after I saw them in the theatres and felt spent...like I wouldn't ever need to rewatch them.

I don't think I want to spend money to buy it when I mainly want to see this supposedly scary as hell ending. The majority of the film I don't think is going to be all that much different or greater than what I saw in the remake.

Eh, i see what you mean. But [Rec] was awesome, and i've watched it several time. But i downloaded it, actually. This was before a canadian DVD release was even considered and it looked as if it wasn't coming out at all. But i suggest downloading it. The ending is truly terrifying, but you should really watch the whole thing. It adds a great amount of tension and horror to the ending.

I definitely will watch the entire thing. I just don't know if I want to buy it though, might be a waste of money in the long run in regards to replay value.

"REC revolves around a television reporter, Ángela, and her cameraman, Pablo, who cover the night shift in one of Barcelona's local fire stations. The firehouse receives a call from an old lady trapped in her house. When they arrive, and the firemen and the police break down the door, the old lady suddenly attacks and bites one of the policemen, and it is revealed that an unknown but virulent disease is infecting people, causing them to turn into infected cannibals. The police and military quarantines the building and the camera crew is trapped inside, constantly recording the mayhem that ensues."

(sorry, there's no subtitles, but you get the idea)

"

Similar to Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and Brotherhood of the Wolf. A good story can be told by the actions alone.

i have a downloaded 'copy of the film, both in English and Spanish! I just have to put them up.... if any are interested...

Yeah, but the trailer for REC is on the quarantine dvd itself. So i would believe Sony is gonna put it out sometime then.

well they'd better!!! i need a dolby digital version of this!!

I watched this movie the other night with some really awful English dubbing{I know, but I absolutely cannot stand subtiles}. It was ok, thought it was kinda predictable.

Since you're picky and/or lazy

Just watch Quarantine, a VERY faithful remake.
