Let's play a game! We all (mostly) have broadband connections, and even with dialups it doesn't take long to download songs.

I need music to listen to. I feel my collection is a bit short, and my musical knowledge is a bit short.

This is how the game will work. I will recommend a song, you will download the song, come back and say what you think, and recommend another song, and we'll keeo going like that. If the song you wanna recommend is on YouTube, post the link just to make it convenient for everybody.

So first of all I'll recommend...

Smog - Vessel in Vain.

Smog - Vessel In Vain

A most depressing song, a song like this could only be written by a man, with mental problems! Children should never be allowed to hear such anti-life garbage, as it could very well lead to drug abuse or suicide.

He says he “does not feel reasonable for the things he says”, because he is a vessel in vain. Blasphemy of the highest latitude, a most ungodly song.

I suggest you listen to Cliff Richard – Im no Hero

Yeah... that song blows.

Here's another Smog song, conveniently placed on YouTube...

another boring game thread

I agree and can only apologise to the other members and Cliff Richard for partaking in such dribble. And that insult was uncalled for Kaine, I only hope you can realise your crippling ways, before it is too late.

One: Harold your a downer...
Two: You have made less then ten post on the hype and I already love ya. Your a great addition to the board and I can see your character going down the same path as SoG. And you being one of the most memorable members.
Three: You remind me of someone I know, I called her the Christian Commando....since your post count is so low...I vote you change your name to that.

He has one of the best names in existence at the moment :(

Since you've given no indication of what you might like, well you did ask for this.

The Misfits, a bunch of stuff. Be warned they do the musical equivalent of cheesey slasher/sci-fi movies.

Also try, Last caress, Mars attacks, 1000000 years BC, and Where eagles dare.

I'm already a Misfits fan, so I know they're all good!

love the song, love the video. Its bizarre to me, having started listening to Bill Callahan way back when "i am star Wars!" first came out, to see him looking very natural in the role of a cable news operator. I always remember him as a scrawny kid!

This song is one of my favorites since the "A Hit"/"Wine Stained lips" seven inch. The twinkling guitar line, the deadpan contemplation on divinity as mere language, and the intimate obscurity (real or made up) of Callahans own memories with his sister and mom, as contrasted with the Chloe Sevigny "eye patch" scenes, are just amazing to me.

It's not on Youtube, but:

You want music to listen to? Get your hands on Anthology: Through The Years by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers.

Two discs, 34 tracks ranging from 1976 to 2000. It's really awesome.
