Red Dawn Remake

YES!!!
I was actually hoping for a Robocop remake with new special effects. The old one is so freaking dated looking.

the old one was smart and a great satire. btw, CGI isn't perfect yet, you know?

Since both Robocop sequels bombed, I don't see how a remake can improve where they failed.

really, that's true. plus the suit looks so perfect that they can't improve that either.

WTF?

How do you even remake Red Dawn. RED Dawn is a piece of 1980s Reagan-style Cold War propoganda about the Soviet Union. USSR is dead. It makes no sense!

it's like how the Warriors didn't work out as a remake. That movie was very 70s, a staple for that era. Now, you can't do stuff like that anymore. That applies for Red Dawn and yes, Robocop.

Robocop would have no problem updating for the present day. Not that they need to remake the first film to do this with.

All they need is the right people to create it and the movies are aren't censored into being pointless. Robocop works when its unrestrained by censors and it should never, ever have films for families as the primary audience. I still can't believe 3 screwed up despite having a Japanese android ninja as a bad guy in it.

Would Robocop be a different model? Id kind of hate to see the exact same thing done twice.

the first one was so well done, that i don't know how the new one can make it better. better cgi and perhaps bigger in scope doesn't mean 'better' you know? Unless they get Paul Thomas Anderson or the Coen Bros to do it :)

They don't need to make a new model.

Murphy's virtually immortal as a cyborg.

He'd need to be upgraded with new technology, though.

What really needs to be CGI THOUGH??? Maybe the bad machine with the machine guns on each side. Which looked really fake in the original. But thats about it.

CGI for whatever evil robot robocop has to fight. Robocop can be a suit still

Don't need CGI unless they need really specific special effects which can't work without them.

They should hire Stan Winston's company to make the costume/mechanical effects for Murphy.

Or they should just not make another one and let us get our robot fix from Iron Man.

^Just wait. All of these people saying "wait and see it could be cool," are fooling themselves. Make no mistake they are going to hire too young bad/bland actors. I'm trying to think whos going to be Clarence Boddicker....

I wish people would actually bother reading other posts instead of just making blatantly wrong assumptions... Most of us who would like to see a remake fall in this camp:

I love Robocop so I'm completely down with seeing a remake :) If it sucks then it sucks and I stick to watching the original

You know the group of people that have actual lives and don't value our worth based on our devotion to fictional characters. I have the original, so why do I care if they **** it up with a remake? And if they make a good film then it'll be awesome  Seriously I don't know why you guys are getting all bent out of shape. I'll go one step further and comment on the fact that you all seem to act all high and mighty about how much hollywood ****s up movie properties, yet most end up praising the mediocre stuff they churn out. Yes I'm referencing movies like Iron Man, Transformers, or Batman Begins. That's not to say I don't enjoy those movies but their hardly the calbur that the supposed fans make em out to be. Now lets be honest as long as they keep the original suit you'll all be crapping your pants. Just like I did when I heard they were using Cullen's voice in the new Transformers. So again I reiterate you guys aren't that hard to please, you just all love to ***** and moan.

*Let me clarify I'm all for *****ing and moan but when its warranted like the rape of John Constantine which is hilarious because there are tons of people on these boards that defend that POS.

I was in high school when the original Red Dawn came out, some of it might seem dated now but it was a kickass film. An updated version of this might actually be pretty cool, although all the Russians (or whoever the baddies are) would most likely be outgunned by the high school they try to take over.

What next? Invasion U.S.A. remake?

I think Batman Begins and Casino Roayle proved that a reboot is not a bad move for a movie saga. Iron Man had to inspire Robo Cop to be remade much like thr original Robo Cop had to be inspired by The Six Million Dollar Man.

Taps> Red Dawn, but I still have a fondness for Red Dawn.

I just don't see how Red Dawn would be as relevant these days. The original is a classic for many reasons. I just don't see a remake holding up unless they just use Red Dawn as a premise for somethin completely different.

hehe actually it would be interesting seeing a "Red Dawn" but at the perspective of Iraqi's

Why would it be called Red Dawn if was an attack from the Middle East?

Will Smith is going to end up playing Tanner. :csad:
