I think he's saying that the PS3 exclusive stuff is Home related
My apologies and I stand corrected if thats the case. The post just above that was about the multiplayer and the PSN, which is why I thought the Home bit was a response to that. My bad

Yes, it was about the "exclusive" PS3 stuff is misleading as it's nothing game related at all and just crap for Home...which is no insentive to buy the PS3 version over the 360 version.

And that wasn't my first post, I used to post as VaderRISE since 2002ish.....but somehow after changing some of my account info my account locked up, couldn't post or anything....unless that name was banned for some unknown reason.

New York Times review:

In the more than 1,100 articles I have written for this newspaper since 1996, I have never before called anything a tour de force. Yet there is no more succinct and appropriate way to describe Red Dead Redemption. Rockstar rides again.

Wait, so the exclusive stuff is just for PSN Home?

No one is 100% sure but it seems to be believed that the hide out is indeed a Home Space much like the Batcave was in AA. The outfit you can use in MP....but, um...I don't think I'd use it even if I GOT the PS3 version, lol.

It's pretty much just a top hat...

Regardless, the 360 has Party Chat...PS3 doesn't. The 360 will always win for me with MP games that have online/co-op modes for that reason alone.

Stupid forums being all weird and time outey and making me double post...

Rockstar had originally stated they didnt expect this game to turn a profit, they just wanted to show that their studio(Sand Diego) could make a AAA title. I think they are going to cover their cost tho. This game looks incredible and even if sales arent strong out the gate, good WOM will make sure it gets there.

A little less than 2 million units (math).

Games are very expensive to make now-a-days.
According to wiki:

"In 2006 the profit from a console game sold at retail was divided among parties of distribution chain as follows: developer (13%), publisher (32%), retail (32%), manufacturer (5%), console royalty (18%)"

If the developer and publisher (which is the same in this case) get only 45% they would need to sell almost 4 million in order to profit, correct?

But then there's marketing cost, so I'd say they'd have to clear 6 million to make a worthwhile profit. Not an easy task but I think they can do it (2 million from the PS3 and 4 million from the X360).

It's pretty crazy, they showed the first tech demo for this game in 2005 so they've been working on it for a long time, and I think I read at one point they had 200 people on the dev team. And all that adds up. But even if they don't fully recoup the costs for this project, it's going to leave them with a valuable new franchise which should be profitable in the long run.

Also, my order staus has changed to 'shipping soon'! Get that sucker out the door, boys, daddy needs his six-gun! Yee-haw!

Yea thats what i thought. I thought they were going to need to sell somewhere between 5-6 million units to turn a profit, which as i stated, they didnt think they would.

I cant decide if i want to go and pick this game up or not tonight. The gamestop thats 5 minutes from my house isnt doing a midnight release, but there is another gamestop like 15 minutes from my house that is doing one.

Wow. I cant speak from experience as haven't played the title yet, but from what im hearing from these different reviews, this looks to be a strong GoTY contender. Cant wait to play it.

Yea I'm stoked. I decided I can't wait until tomorrow so I went to the gamestop that's about 15 minutes from me and preordered there. Gonna be picking this up tonight.

I dunno...I really, really doubt that they would put a sticker on the case to promote Playstation Home content.

The only thing I can think of that got a sticker on the box for content, was the Joker Challenge Maps for Batman Arkham Asylum.

I have never seen a poster deleted entirely. VaderRise doesn't even show up in the member list. You have been nuked. Yikes.

As far as the PS3 content is concerned the Hideout is in game not part of Home.

Well if the hideout is as lame as the costume, I don't think it'll matter much, hah
