The weird thing is most of them were filmed in Spain
Yeah, the "spaghetti" part comes from the fact the original westerns of that particular style were filmed by Italian directors in and around Italy. But now when someone says "spaghetti western" they're talking about a specific style as opposed to where it was filmed.
Dirty, gritty, violent, more realistic, etc... You guys covered it pretty well.
yes it is the same guys. I wouldnt hold that against them though. Killzone 1 sucked and the same developers went on to make its sequel which was praised for being a much superior game. The previews so far make it look like the same will be the case hereis this the same guys who made red dead revolver, that game kinda sucked
Havok83 said:maybe so bc I never really noticed it until now. I doubt it will be as big as GTA IV though
Yep, even if it is a better game, people bought GTA simply bc it was GTA. Ive read many regret that and found it disappointing but the GTA name was enough to bring in the huge sales. Red Dead doesnt have that which is why I feel the reviews and word of mouth will play the biggest role in selling the title. I admit that I was pretty ignorant regarding it before the past week but I know Im not the only one. Theres alo of confusion and uncertainty surrounding it. Little research on it brought up its predecessor, Red Dead Revolver which seems pretty mediocore. Im lucky Im on the internet and have a medium to asks these questions and get feedback and better understanding but overall, the general public isnt. I hope it does well bc if not for popping into this thread a few days ago, I most likely wouldnt have even looked at itNo Havok is right, in terms of units sold, it wont be as big as GTA IV. It doesn't have the name recognition.
No he isn't right... and neither am I. Technically neither of us can claim that until the game actually comes out. Till then its all speculation.ProjectPat2280 said:No Havok is right, in terms of units sold, it wont be as big as GTA IV. It doesn't have the name recognition.

You can't be that hardcore a gamer then, because it would be hard to trawl through any gaming website or a game store without seeing Red Dead Redemption info...
Also, anyone who bought GTA IV will alread know about Red Dead Redemption because Rockstar have been advertising it on the mailing list for the rockstar social club for a year, so anyone who plays online for GTA IV will know about it. I still think you're selling this game short. It doesn't come out until mid May, and the EB my gf works at and the JB HiFi my friend works at are both already sold out on pre-orders over the first shipment of games.
Its not going to be as big as GTA IV. Period. I think the game will sell very well, but it will NOT sell the amount of copies GTA IV did. GTA has had a name in the industry for a LONG time now, they have created a huge fan base, you cant just over look that. You thinking that everyone who bought GTA will know about this game is just wrong. I'll bet you that more than 3/4 of the GTA user base has NEVER checked Rockstars social club, so they wont be getting their information from that. GTA sold around 14 million copies, and a majority of that is due to people buying it because its "GTA" Red Dead Redemption does not have that luxury and will not put up those kinds of numbers. No one is selling this game short, most of us think it will be a fantastic title based on the previews and videos we have all seen, but it's not topping GTA IV, anyone who has payed attention to the industry the last 5 - 10 years can see that.
thank you. IA with your entire post. I tried to post my opinions from an objective standpoint. As great this game may end up being it wont be as big as GTA IV and thats bc of the reasons you postedIts not going to be as big as GTA IV. Period. Not me. I was a GTA IV buyer and while I heard of the name before, I didnt even know it was a Rockstar title until recently. Like ProjectPat said, most GTA IV users werent even active in the Social Club. Ive checked it out but never bothered to put myself on some mailing list. Im not selling the game short. I have not said a single negative thing about it. What I have posted since discovering it has been positive. You just dont like what I have to say pertaining to it. I HOPE it does great and well, but the fact is it doesnt have the recognition GTA has. Thats a fact. With that said, assuming it ends up being a great title, I hope more people find out about it and end up giving it a tryAlso, anyone who bought GTA IV will alread know about Red Dead Redemption because Rockstar have been advertising it on the mailing list for the rockstar social club for a year, so anyone who plays online for GTA IV will know about it. My original point stands, which is no one can say definitely whether it will sell as well as GTA until it comes out, but there is alot of hype around this. It's the biggest game Rockstar have ever made, and I think Rockstar have gotten to the point where their name is almost just as big as GTA.
Having played about half an hour of this game at a games journo function, I can vouch that it is definitely a GTA killer in terms of quality. It feels alot more like a real world, is prettier than all hell, and there seems to be alot more to do.
Okay, granted GTA IV still holds the record for fastest selling (i think its fastest selling) but I wouldn't be surprised if this game is one of the highest selling/earning games of 2010.
thats what Im thinking. I think it will have a slow start and as the reviews and word of mouth spread, then more people jump on itI dont know if GTA IV holds the record any more. I think Modern Warfare 2 pretty much shattered all previous records.
As for Redemption being one of the top selling games this year. Yea i think its possible, but it wont do it quickly. If this game is as good as advertised it'll take some time for reviews and word of mouth to spread. Rockstar has stated that they expect to lose money with this title, this game is to show you that the studio behind Redemption can make a AAA title, but they dont expect to profit from it. If the title is that good, i think they will tho.
