Joel Edgerton is in early talks to join Jennifer Lawrence in Red Sparrow, an adaptation of the Jason Matthews espionage novel at Fox. Francis Lawrence is directing. Justin Haythe rewrote a script by American Hustle scribe Eric Warren. Steve Zaillian and Garrett Basch are producing with Chernin Entertainment.

I liked this book and so far I don't like the casting of both leads. :funny:

I've not read the book so I'll take your word for it Kv. Also is it me or does this sound quite similar plot wise to the Cotillard/Pitt Allied film?

I wonder if J-Law even understands the script for this movie. Or maybe she's Wikipedia'ing Russian and CIA espionage in between selfies with Amy Schumer.

Are you saying that she's a stupid person?

Jeremy Irons and Matthias Schoenaerts join Jennifer Lawrence's spy thriller 'Red Sparrow' http://bit.ly/2g7qWdc

Jeremy Irons and Matthias Schoenaerts have joined Jennifer Lawrence and Joel Edgerton in Fox’s spy thriller “Red Sparrow.”

Francis Lawrence, who helmed the final three films in the “Hunger Games” franchise, is re-teaming with Jennifer Lawrence for his latest directional effort. Fox has already dated “Red Sparrow” for Nov. 10, 2017.

The story, an adaptation of the Jason Matthews espionage novel, follows a Russian intelligence officer (Lawrence) who is ordered against her will to become a "Sparrow," a trained seductress, and to operate against a young CIA agent who handles the agency’s most important Russian mole.

Matthias Schoenaerts, Jeremy Irons and Joel Edgerton also stars.

There is a scene involving a hairbrush. Lawd.

I mean no disrespect to JLaw and Edgerton but I just can't see her and him as Dominika and Nate especially the latter. I mean Nate is supposed to be a youngin'... LOL I'm laughing just imagining her in the hairbrush scene. I'm pretty sure that won't make it on screen. Heck, maybe even some the training scenes won't make it on screen. I'm guessing Irons will be her uncle or her mentor that turned out to be a [blackout]double agent like her[/blackout]. Not sure who Matthias Schoenaerts is playing... He's probably a bit better suited for Nate than Edgerton. *shrugs* The lead character also has synesthesia but I'm not seeing it in the synopsis so far so I wonder if that's out as well.

He joins Jennifer Lawrence, Joel Edgerton, Matthias Schoenaerts, Jeremy Irons, and Joely Richardson in the thriller which Francis Lawrence is directing.

Hinds will play Zyugonov, the director of the Russian bureau.

Just finished the book and was not particularly impressed with it.

I hope the movie makes it work better.

The BBFC have rated the first teaser trailer for The Hunger Games franchise director Francis Lawrence’s spy thriller Red Sparrow starring Jennifer Lawrence – no doubt in time for Kingsman: The Golden Circle‘s release in two weeks time (or it could play with Darren Aronofsky’s mother! – also starring Lawrence – next week).

Reactions to the teaser shown at CinemaCon '17:

Got a first look at Red Sparrow with Jennifer Lawrence which is like La Femme Nikita meets…it’s La Femme Nikita. #CinemaCon2017 - JoBlo.com

Fox screens first trailer for The Red Sparrow, w/ Jennifer Lawrence as injured ballerina turned assassin. Black Swan meets Bond. #Cinemacon - Yahoo Movies

The R- rated Black Widow film that will never happen.

First Lawrence film I've really been interested to see in a while but I am a sucker for these types of films.

She's not my first choice but this is one of those times that Lawrence is of the right age for the character.

Trailer looks good but as much as I like Edgerton, I still would've preferred someone younger.

I was looking forward to this trailer but it didn't grab me.

again an over-sexulized female agent movie? ohhh she uses sex ? I understand that they are only producing this kind of movies because they think thats the only way to get men to watch it. but come on its 2017.
