Refn Teaming with Gosling for Drive

I agree that it doesn't sound like the ultimate story, but I didn't want to presume based on a four-line synopsis, and like you, I'm more curious about what they can do with it than enthusiastic about it.

Although if Refn is onboard, I'll be a little more than curious.

Yeah, this pretty much sums up my feelings on a sequel, get the same team and I am 100% on board whatever the story.

Bumping this.

Drive is one of the best movies I've seen in the 2000's, possibly ever. The cinematography is breathtaking, and the score by Cliff Martinez is absolutely incredible. Gosling gives one of my favorite performances.

Seriously, honestly, one of the best movies I think I've ever seen. :BA

I love the style of this movie. I gush about cinematography all the time.

There's a part of me who doesn't want to see a sequel, though it's in development. And I hope the story doesn't take place in Arizona like in the book sequel.

^Is it definately in development the sequel? If so are both Gosling and Refn involved?
I only ask because Refn seems to have a lot of movies in the pipeline at the moment and this could be a way off.

Well, the question is if the $$$ backers and producers are gonna bring back Refn and Gosling. I don't think it's the same producing team as 'Drive' but I could be wrong. But it's so early in the game that it's hard to tell.

And Refn is so busy right now, the sequel will be stuck in development hell for a while, so I'm not concerned. For now.

I say no to the sequel. The original film didn't follow the exact plotline of the book and I don't like how hollywood is obsessed with sequels and prequels. Read the books if you wanna see the driver's story beyond Drive.

Yeah, I'm in the same boat at this point unless Refn can come up with something so good that it had to be made. Like his 'Pusher' sequels.

Totally agreed. :yay: Absolutely loved Drive and It would sadden me if the sequels didn't meet the magic feel the original had.

I think of part of it was that Refn created a cool version of LA that was glamorous and tragic at the same time. That's why I'm weary of any other setting, especially Arizona. It'll be different, and change can be good, but I don't know if I like the direction.

I don't know, I think Arizona could invoke a sort of Southwest Noir feel like Touch of Evil or The Getaway that maintains some on the influences of the original without it feeling like a retread.

I think the sequel would be more interesting if it took place in Mexico..

I think they should made the team of Brad Pitt and Ryan Gosling instead of Refn and Ryan Gosling. We all knows that Brad Pitt is the best actor as he proved himself in the movie Fight Club, which made that Fight Club Red Leather Jacket very popular.

I totally agree with this, by far it was the best movie of 2011 and one of my the best movies I've ever seen in general. Everything about it was perfect and the soundtrack was very moving to me. Great stuff.

I thought Drive was great the first time I saw it but it's effect wore off on me with repeat viewings. Same thing happened with Inception the year before. I'd hate to know what film that will be this year.

Loved Drive. I wouldn't mind a sequel; I just hope that whoever gets on board does a good job. Hopefully that's Refn, if he ever frees up his schedule.

I finally saw this movie today. So ashamed that I waited so long. Pretty ****ing fantastic. I loved just about everything about it. I was really surprised by the brutality, I wasn't expecting that. The scene that made me cringe most was when

Bryan Cranston got his arm slashed. ARRRGH, that scene made me hurt lol.

Refn and Gosling are teaming up again
Only God Forgives and Logan's Run according to IMDB.

I loved this movie when I saw it in theaters, I immediately added it to my soon-to-purchase-list but that cover is awful. Any word on the alleged special edition being released this year?

i did'nt love drive like most people here it is an alright film kind of overrated imo
