Refn Teaming with Gosling for Drive

The trailer really gives everything away. Why don't people they sue over that?

Even then usually the trailers are done by a third party. The only directors that may have a say in the trailers would be Fincher, Snyder or maybe Nolan.

Yep. So did Quarantine. That's really f**king stupid.

If the only scene in your movie that's scary enough to make people want to see it is the end scene, then your movie probably isn't very scary.

Man Who Threw Hot Dog At Tiger Woods Was "Inspired By The Movie Drive" To Do Something "Epic"

http://deadspin.com/5849141/

The man who attempted (and failed) to throw a hot dog at Tiger Woods at the Frys.com Open last weekend has been identified. He is Brandon Kelly, a 31-year-old from Petaluma, Calif., and he is really into the movie Drive.

The Santa Rosa Press Democrat caught up with Kelly after he was named in the police report, and he admitted that it was he who wasted the perfectly good hot dog, and then he gave a perfectly rational insane explanation for the assault:
The idea, he said, was formed after he watched a movie about a stunt driver who moonlights as a getaway driver.

"I threw the hot dog toward Tiger Woods because I was inspired by the movie ‘Drive,'" Kelly said. "As soon as the movie ended, I thought to myself, ‘I have to do something courageous and epic. I have to throw a hot dog on the green in front of Tiger.'"

Kelly declined to elaborate on his motivation and said he had initially hoped to remain anonymous.
Here is the trailer for Drive, which we have seen. It is awesome, and it does contain a particularly moving scene in an elevator, but it does not include a single hot dog.

The Press Democrat reported that on the morning of the incident, Kelly posted a picture on his Facebook of "a hot dog in his hand in front of his vehicle's steering wheel and speedometer," and that later in the morning he reported he'd had a bloody Mary (or ten?) and was headed to the green "to watch Tiger Woods play 18 holes." He did not mention that he would throw a hot dog at the golfer on the seventh green. Kelly was arrested on suspicion of disturbing the peace, and will likely have to pay a fine and perform community service for the misdemeanor.

Kelly said that he wishes Tiger the best, and that he hopes he'll break Jack Nicklaus' record one day.

What is this amazing movie doing to people?

lol say the poster with a bloody Ryan Gosling for their profile pic. Not commenting you at all, just the conjunction of the pic and the comment... Goslings eye line also looks like he's reading your post.

Anyone thought that there were a lot of similarities between Drive and Refn's previous film, Valhalla Rising?

I'm specifically talking about Gosling's and Mikkelsen's character arcs in both films. They are both mysterious men of few words (none in the case of Mikkelsen) who spend their time looking unassuming and then kick major a** in very violent ways...

I also found some similarities between Gosling's driver and Tom Stall in History of Violence. Which is also a great movie.

The best film I have seen for a long time. Feels like something I will be watching years from now and enjoying it just as much.

I don't know, I hated Valhalla Rising. I love Drive and Bronson, but VR, in my opinion, was torture to watch because I found it so tedious and pretentious. But that's just me. I know a lot of other people liked it.

Really?

Weird, I thought Bronson was a lot weaker than it could have been. A laugh riot for sure, but the character was not as interesting as those from his other movies, and you could almost feel Refn wasn't 100% into the whole project and got lazy for a couple of scenes.

At the time he wanted to direct Valhalla Rising which he had already written, but had to make Bronson first, which he did not write, for reasons I can't remember...

The Pusher trilogy is probably Refn at his best though, especially the second one.
