    Happy Independence Day, Guest!

Sequel already planned?

Well, if a sequel is made, then I'm guessing you will not be happy, in which case you DO care for some reason. Seems like you don't want a sequel to be made at all because if you don't enjoy the movie then no one else should either. People have different taste in movies. Just because someone may like DBE doesn't mean they have horrible taste in movies, it just means they don't share YOUR taste in films.

I could be very wrong in how you feel though. So if I am, I apologize.

I don't like bad movies. If I see this as a bad movie, I obviously would not want it to get a sequel. Because that would be another bad movie. Because that would be two movies that I see as bad movies.

If someone wants the sequel, that's good for them. But I don't want it and I'm going to express how distateful the concept of a sequel is. A person who didn't like the first movie is against a sequel and the people who liked the first one will be for it. Simple concept. These forces always work against each other when it comes to whether or not a sequel is made.

If someone gets teary eyed because I insulted a movie they liked or because I'm hoping against a sequel to it, that's their problem.

Oh well. I didn't think I'll ever fully understand that mentality. To me it just seems like if a sequel is made, those who didn't like the first movie could simply not watch the second one, while those who did want the sequel can watch it.

I mean, I don't like certain current movies that are going to get sequels but I don't go around saying that they should stop making them or that the people that enjoy them have bad taste in movies. I just don't watch them any more. That way I'm happy and the fans of the movies are happy. Seems good to me.

I shall stop here though. I think we both pretty much expressed our opinions on the matter lol Hopefully there are no hard feelings though and I hope that you don't think I was trying to start an arguement. I was just trying to understand your point of view :yay:

See ya!

Although I would like to say that I hope Fox loses the rights and some other company can do a DB movie correctly some day x_x;

I'm with you. I just dont understand people who actively are against the making of any movie, really. No one forces you to watch anything, so if you're not interested in a movie, just let those who are enjoy it.

It'd be like going over to the imdb boards for the sequel to some boring romantic comedy and complaining it shouldn't be made. I didn't really care that they made a Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2. I never saw the first one, never saw the second one, and never will. Those movies dont interest me in the slightest, but it doens't mean they shouldn't make 'em. Let people who enjoy them enjoy them. I mean, the worst I'll ever have to do is sit through a commercial for it on TV or something.

I see what your saying , if we dont enjoy it then dont watch it and stop being selfish right? But when your making a film adaptation of something and the storyline gets contorted and things are changed and you have someone who doesnt know dragonball think thats how the actual story goes it just kinda bothers me.

Do you know who Goku is? The kid who is always eager for a fight, thought marriage was a type of food, didn't seem to get it when Chi Chi was coming on to him, and whenever he met a bully he would usually just be like "whats his problem?" and walk past? He never cared about fitting in and he was happy with who he was? Saying "oh, very little is changed" doesn't make it true. They changed everything about his character to make him more like the generic high school hero.

And what's the problem? the story was still the same and Goku was somewhat the same, he was raised by his grandfather, he's from space, the fact they turned him into a love sick teenager only makes him more accessuble to the audience, and the whole not fitting in fitted with Oozaro with him having to accept the two hal;fs of who he was. It made for a better story than Goku just looking for revenge, the fact that Goku now knows who he is means that in the sequel he might not care about fitting in and he might be more confident after his fight with piccolo. The story was about the evolution of Goku and if its true about the reborn film, then in the next Goku will be reborn as a new fighter.

Same as before: Do you even know who Bulma is? In DB she was a teenage girl who was pretty whiney and rather air-headed. She wasn't cool or collected and she exploded on most of the cast. I'm really wondering what show you watched where Bulma had a low voice and acted like a tough guy. Show me some clips of it, I would really like to see it. The version of Dragonball I watched didn't have a character like that named Bulma at all.

yeah but they picked up on some of Bulma's traits, her impatience, her brashness and arrogance all of which shown when shes around the other characters. And if you remember when first meeting Goku and Bulma did have a fight with Bulma shooting Goku.

Dragonball fights were mostly hand to hand. There were very little actual blows in any of the fights. In the final fight, around 6 blows are traded.

Dragonball Z shows had a lot of ki blasts and the like. This movie had that. Goku and Piccolo throw around several flashy blasts during the final battle.

Yeah so? so they mixed the two types of fighting? That's because more people remember DragonballZ and the fights. So they mixed both aspects, it was still slow fighting like Dragonball and had Goku exploding into Piccolo.

In the World Tournament Saga, it is shown Yamcha has always been a extremely serious fighter. In the show he goes off in the woods and trains for weeks (or was it months?) on end and isolated himself from everyone. He grows a bear and goes without food in order to make sure he becomes the greatest fighter in the world.

Yeah, thats a sign of a character where the whole fighter aspect is "not a big deal".

Yeah, that doesn't mean in the next movie they won't pick up on that aspect of the character. They just stuck to his origins as a thief. In the next movie tehy can develop him as an amateur in Martial Arts as they start introducing characters like Tien or Krillin.

Yes. I don't see why Goku being a kid living alone in the mountains wouldn't translate to films. These are pointless changes. I wouldn't even be complaining about these changes if I thought they worked.

But Goku did live in the moutains, he lived in a small town in the outskirts of town with his grandfather that's pretty close to Dragonball. The fact that Goku's grandfather was kept alive was to give some expessition about the Dragonballs and also gave Goku some motivation to actually go out and fight Piccolo other than just to fight ie. Gohan was this movies Kuririn.

No, I am one of those people that was trying to be optimistic about this film because I didn't mind changes but I thought the changes they were adding were pointless and stupid. And saying those brief descriptions as proof that they got the basics right is really weak. Its like saying making Superman a Kryptonian raised by farmers since he was a baby is enough to make him faithful or making Batman the son of Thomas Wayne and the owner of Wayne Enterprises is enough to make him faithful.

Yeah but, there have been changes within both movies, Bruce never trained all his life in BB and was trained by Ra's Al Ghul. Superman in the movie was a messiah type character sent to defend Earth by his father. The same chanages have been made with Goku, which in my view are only minor.

Chi Chi's father isn't going to be the Ox King I guarentee you that. Unless the Ox King is like the owner of a commercial breed of oxes and makes commercials saying "THATS WHY THE CALL ME THE OX KING! WOOHOO!"

How do you know? They might just make him a retired martial artist in his fifties who's let himself go so he's got the big burly look that Ox had.

They didn't explain who made the Dragonballs because they didn't explain anything in the plot.

Kame Sama wasn't explained when Goku was first introduced... it was ages away before they introduced him and they explained the basis of the dragonballs like they did in the show and comics.

A plot that makes sense. Is Goku 2000 years old? If he's not the Oozaru sent with Piccolo, then how is Piccolo is aware Goku exists or that Goku is an Oozaru? He was imprisoned for 2000 years.

That might just have been a descendant of Goku? Another Saiyan. The siayans could have gone back and then sent Goku there awaiting Piccolo's return?

yeah cos we don't know what next film could hold but you know as i've stated above they can build on it within the sequel

The entire movie calls for a REBOOT!! REBOOT!! REBOOT!! If they continue with the current storyline, it will only continue to confuse people. This is a movie for the fans who already know the story inside and out. So rather than trying to tell a weak origin story (ie. Wolverine), start from the beginning and assume that the fans already know the backstory and just go from there. When I first saw DBZ, I didn't need to go back and watch DB just to understand the plot, and I'm glad I didn't (DB was like comparing Windows 3.1 to XP). It was all laid out in the storyline. DBZ was a stand alone series. If you want to tell about the character's backgrounds then do it in flashbacks instead of wasting my two hours with unnecessary drivel. Stop changing the basic premise of the characters and get these overly cute, non-credible actresses out of these key roles (ie. Jamie Chung as Chi Chi....are you serious?). POlease stop killing my favorite anime of all time and simply ask the creator, Akira Toriyama, how he envisioned his story being told on the big screen but from a western perspective. Barring that, then call Peter Jackson so he can give a detailed block of instruction on how to make a hardcore trilogy that doesn't suck.
