Resistance: 40 person multiplayer, 2 match types revealed, offline co-op confirmed

Mr. Credible and Topdawg, you guys are jokes. You guys, and I didn't know this was possible, actually know less about gaming than EGM.

Agreed beyond any shadow of a doubt.

I'm trying to pick up the PSM issue is question, but it seems to be sold out when I look. That face closeup would probably be from a cutscene, right?

Sorry Zenien that face closeup is actually in-game, the cut scenes in this game are actual gameplay because the games graphics are supposed to be so detailed that they don't see any reason to pre-render videos for cinematics and supposedly they are very well done.

Have you guys read that article yet, some of it is very cool what they are doing and maybe it will change some of your guys minds on your views on this game.

Also I found out something interesting about Resistance and why it might not look more amazing than Gears of War this is the reason....

"The reason you're not seeing a ton of media is because the majority of polish elements like final lighting, post fx, visual fx, ambient fx, sound fx and scoring doesn't happen until after the game hits beta (which Resistance is nearing.) Polish is almost completely off the radar until all of the major gameplay systems are in and functioning correctly, and it always looks like an entirely new game once these elements are added."

This is how Insomniac makes games at least...

Man this game is going to be amazing IMO.

IF ALL THAT'S TRUE, THEY NEVER SHOULD'VE RELEASED THIS PIC.... :o

AND, BTW, 'GEARS OF WAR' IS ALSO STILL UNFINISHED. ACCORDING TO EPIC, WHAT WAS SHOWN AT 'E3' IN MAY, WASN'T CLOSE TO FINAL QUALITY.

I thought that picture was fine, you should of looked at that picture in the actual magazine it looked ten times better than that scan. I believe his scanner was probable acting up. I mean look at how good the graphics look now Thwip. They look to me pretty damn good and better than what a PS2 has. And since Resistance is only in the alpha phase still I think it looks pretty damn gorgeous. Man I can't wait for this game, its definatly an original game, If you read the article you can see that this statement can be justified.

But hey I also have to give credit where it is due. Thats pretty impressive that Epic is still not done finalizing their game. Kuddos to them. However I wonder how much their game will be asking from the 360. I mean look at Prey, so far that was the most demanding Xbox 360 game out on store shelves hence the long load times. Where according to Resistance the load times are only two to five seconds. Not a minute or two. But hey who cares. All I know is this game is getting more amazing as time reveals more about it.

I can't wait for that Catherdral battle where a ton of Chimera swarm you and your two team mates and there supposedly are so many of them on screen that you actually get the emotion there is no hope for you survival.

Man Insomniac hopefully IGN is right and this gets you in First Person Shooter glory. :D

Actually, loading times have little to do with hardware demands. Sure, back in the day they went (almost) hand-in-hand, but thanks to streaming and compression technologies the loading times can be severely cut down, if not annihilated altogether.

Prey may have long loading times, but that's because it was a rather direct port from the PC version (where streaming can be done off a hard-drive which opens large data faster than a disk reader) , whereas Gears of War has one load time for the entire game (session), thanks to UE3's world streaming system.

That's why games like Ninja Gaiden and Halo 2, for the most part, never need to load, but comparatively ugly games like Dynasty Warriors 3 and Silent Hill 2 can take forever.

Lol sorry guys I suck when it comes to technology, I just post what I hear from other sources like Gametrailers and Gamespot. Thats cool that Gears only has one load through the whole game, so the action is never broken up.

However I've been thinking a lot lately about the whole war going on between Mr. Credible and Extromaniac. Don't you think its un-fair to compare Resistance and Gears of War? I mean they are two entirly diffrent game? Like Resistance is a first person shoote Gears is a third-person shooter. Gears has been in the works for almost two years and has technology that Epic has had for many years.

While Resistance has only been in development for seven months. Sure pre-production was a year but they were coming up with a story not making the game. They also made their own engine that people claim they stole from naughty dawg? They never stole Naughty Dawgs technology they had their own for Ratchet and Clank *Which I don't understand why people don't like these game THEY RULE!* They are doing the same for Resistance.

So personally I think these little arguments need to stop and let games be games. I mean developer like Insomniac and Epic are developers that are looking forward to eachothers games and can't wait to play them. They aren't trying to pull a gurellia and kill Halo. They want to make a game that consumers enjoy and want to play. We are turning their passionate creations into things they never wanted them to be. If that makes sense. Just let the games co-exist for now and wait for them to come out.

I mean so far Zenien is the only real rational one here when thinking. Graphics don't make the game gameplay and the story do. Sure its nice to have good graphics it makes the game more life-like and more immersive. So although Gears might have really good graphics it sacrifices things that Resistance makes stronger, and Resistance makes sacrifices that Gears makes stronger.

So stop comparing the two and wait for them both to hit store shelves. Because personally there is going to be one hell of a battle between the two for shooter of the year.

Hey guys I actually have some really cool info. If you subscribe to the Insomniac message boards you can actually talk to everyone who is making Resistance Fall of Man like Mike Stout Ted Price...ECT. One of the users on their boards ask this question....

"In PSM, did they ever mention how far back the build at E3 was? The GDC build, Ted said was from Dec/Nov of last year, and they had only started to move onto the SPE's, etc. Was the E3 build closer to what they have now?"

and this is the response given.

Mike Stout *who works on Multiplayer for Resistance*

"The E3 build was current as of E3 and represented the leaps that had been made between a few months before GDC and E3. It's not really representative of what we have now, though. I had a chance to play a build of a Single Player level yesterday and it blew me away how much it's improved since the E3 build.

It's exponential, really."

Personally I think that statement should put to rest all of the negativity saying the graphics look like a PS2 game.

THWIP if you know Insomniac like the way I do they are true to what they say. Just like all of you guys who splooge your pants over Cliffy B. Saying Gears of War is going to be amazing and a massive hit and its very original and breath taking bla bla bla.

Insomniac is true to what they say, they are fellow gamers who never want to make anything Half-Ass. They have won best small company two years in a row and that says a ton. It means that they are very enthusastic with what they are setting out to accomplish and want to make a well crafter fun experience. They are supportive of eachother and want this game to be the best. From their gaming aspects they don't want to disappoint. They say they want this game to deliever on all the fronts with what the PS3 is cabable of and what this game has to offer.

So far its very imaginative and if you read that 13 page article you would know that this game is shaping up to be a AAA title. I mean so many people have been saying they are looking forward to Resistance after that 13 page article. The tilt sensing controller is being put to great use with Resistance and personally I can't wait to almost get a chunk of me bit out by the Chimera when they are up close and personal and you have to shake the controller to grab their heads and shake the controller to throw them off of you!

Sure Mike Stout works for Insomniac games and sure maybe he might be overhyping the game but personally I don't think Insomniac is trying to pull a gurellia or a bungie out of their assess. I guess we'll just have to wait until Tokoyo Game Show where I'm sure we'll be in for a surprise with Resistance.;)

Okay now you guys are just trying to be funny and be immature because you know that Resistance actually has potential to shape up to be a AAA title. I'm sorry that Gears of War might have to run for its money when Resistance comes out I truly am but let the game speak for itself before you guys try and use your close minded antics:up: I mean seriously if I was Epic I would be so a shamed as a developer to have spent almost three years on Gears of War hard at work on an engine that is well known and might possibly get shown up by a game that was made in seven months.:O

THE DIFFERENCE IS, WE KNEW 'GEARS' LOOKED AMAZING, LOOOONG BEFORE IT WAS EVEN BEING TALKED ABOUT, BY ANYONE FROM 'EPIC'. 'CLIFFY B' HASN'T SAID ANYTHING WE DIDN'T ALREADY KNOW ABOUT FROM OTHER SOURCES REALLY........AND HASN'T HAD TO.

Hey Topdawg I'm just curious whose side are you on?

And to Mr. Caps lock king the reason why I have to resolve to that ignorant statements that you so call rob me of any creditability is because you guys are acting immature and say stupid things when Insomniac is trying to talk about their game. You make fun of it and say that they have to say that when people like Bungie and Epic talk so much about their games and you guys just say "OH MY GOD ITS GOING TO BE F**KING AMAZING LETS HAVE AN ELEPHANT CIRCLE OVER THIS GAME:eek:    " Insomniac has a ton of credit going behind their studios and they don't disappoint, they know what they need to do to make a AAA title.

For instance in Gears of War the enemies just run around and gun. In Resistance enemies actually crawl on walls Spider-Man style making them a hard target where with Gears all I can see me doing for ten hours is stopping and popping shooting an enemy who may take cover but won't do anything extraordinary like Resistance. I mean the hero moments alone are an amazing feature that gets a plus over Gears.

Personally I don't get you guys:o
