Where the hell did he say that? Galileo was a bit of a *****e in how he presented his finding but I've never heard of him saying to kill any body.

Nah, you misunderstood me. I was saying that it was people who told him to shut up or die, not a decree from the bible not to question it.

I don't know about wrong, just don't whine about respect when I push back?
Whine? Who is really whining about dogma here? There are whiners, but it ain't Christians... I mean seriously.... why would they whine? They already have crackers to go with their wine....:cwink:

You tell me, it was a Christian who started this thread...

Yeah, it's atheists. We're the majority *****ing about people not letting us teach their kids that the world is 6,000 years old, and making them pay for ten commandments monuments...

We also started this ridiculous thread, because a few people are challenging our authority, and waging war on the most ubiquitous holiday in human history.

You tell me, it was a Christian who started this thread...
Yeah it was...because if someone had said:

Gays are moronic for their beliefs...

Jews are moronic for their beliefs...

Blacks are moronic for their beliefs...

If these things were said repeatedly....over and over again...do you think someone might not respond with a thread here?????

edit:

We could edit out any ? are moronic....and there would be a thread.

Really, it's not even Christianity in general, it's specific groups who bring their views into politics, or in this case, almost every thread they come into.

Also race and sexuality is not the same as a religion. You really ought to know that.

LOL...who is in this group you speak of? The disenfranchised group, which is not so disenfranchised....????? What groups of people are speaking here???? ThunderCrack?

I think we would have to take it on a case by case basis, and what they believed.

Like if a gay person believed monkeys cured cancer and could fly, that would be pretty moronic

Or if a jewish person believed that square shapes fit in round holes, that would be pretty moronic

Or if a black person believed that balloons have feelings, that would be pretty moronic

In this case? Evangelicals mostly. I'm guessing that's what you are.
Haha...I am gun nut...according to some here who will shoot you if you come on my lawn. I believe in God, but I am no way shape or form an Evangelist. :cwink:

I am a Christian who prays for forgiveness...as all Christians should.

It's all contextual, and I don't know what you guys are referring to specifically cuz I haven't come across anything too bad on these forums in threads I frequent but in short - if you're using religious doctrine to perpetuate bigotry you deserve any insults your way. I would never resort to that myself, but you brought it upon yourself.

The next time you see a crazy person yelling and ranting or even frothing at the mouth as they spout a message fueled by anger remind yourself of one thing: That person does not reflect the whole. But also remind yourself that acceptance is not compromise, it is not a requirement to believe and support their agenda no matter what it may be, it merely means you respect them as a person and that they have made choices you may not agree with but still require the same love, compassion and honor we all deserve as a people.

Just wanted to repost this from the OP as a reminder of how the thread started and how it applies to all sides, not just one.

Perhaps, but didn't we discuss this before?

:cwink: People only really see what they want to see.

Actually, no. Because science allows for new evidence to challenge previous information, and change accordingly.

Religion says this is how it is, any new information that contradicts this is wrong, and if you believe it you will burn in hellfire for all of eternity.

I think that is a little extreme.

This thread still,

meaningful conversations have ended, it's just one person trying to top the last persons insult page after page now.

What does the fox say?

I've had meaningful posts. I had one person talk crap about the 'missing link' in evolution and how it was never found, I disproved him and gave fossil evidence and a clip from Futurama where they use that same evidence in the same type of thing and he just left without saying anything.

What I don't get is the necessary attempt by MANY on this board to corrupt a person's belief system? I really don't get it. You all make yourselves sound so pious with your ********, but it is the same corrupt thinking that leads to the detriment in the first place.

I really dislike people trying to corrupt Christianity because they don't like a few Christians. It's the same as I don't like people saying they don't like America because of a few Americans.

There is so much more to the Christian faith that has spurred people to supreme heights. It's not all we hate Gays, and some Christians choose not to accept that, but people will just **** on an entire faith that's for the most part is not that bad because of a few things.

Whatever....

Translation...corrupt = criticize or dare to question.

I would say some of you need to find Jesus so you can ask for forgiveness, but that would be wrong.

Forgiveness for what exactly? For not believing in what you believe?

At what point have any of us told you to ask Dawkins or Hitchens for forgiveness? This is exactly why people say some Christians arrogantly push their beliefs on to others.

I'm not attempting to corrupt anyones belief. I'm just stating my own belief and understanding and if someone starts to question their own then that isn't any fault of mine.

I would say you need to find Jesus for calling people morons and their faith moronic...but you go figure it out.

Kevan...seriously you generally have a position that I respect and I still respect it.

I can't explain other's faith. I don't try to. I only recognize that I will have to go my God for my sins....that's why I try not to condemn others too heavily. I will call people for their mistakes, but I can't call your entire belief system into question because of that.

tbh...I don't know what the missing link is or really care. :oldrazz: My God says I really have other things to worry about.
