Why is that when someone say's god made them do it, people write them off as crazy? I would think that a majority of americans would consider themselves christians. The christian bible is full of all sorts of crazy things.Their was the guy who seperated an ocean, a man who lived after being swallowed by a whale, and our good friend jesus who was the first zombie in history. If christians can believe that stuff, why cant they believe someone did something because god told them to?

The same reason I firmly believe that if The Bible is real. Jesus has been back several times, but everytime he ends up in a nut house. Because people won't believe he is Jesus.

Main problem is, if people where to say God made me to do it, then everyone would use that excuse and get away with it.

Also if God had a plan and wanted someone to do something then I think God would have enough power to make sure that person gets the job done.
Also God says not to kill in the bible which christains believe in.

I think it's just a way for a person to do something they wanted to do, but weren't completely sure about. Saying "god told me to" is simply a way for them to be at peace about it.

I'm equal opportunity, I call everyone who believes they hear from god crazy. :yay:

I find this a bit skeptical myself... i think people more use it as just an excuse just to get away with something.

Moses had his share of skeptics.

That was before he parted the Red Sea. :o

Because people would be getting away with a **** load of things, thats why.

" I just master minded the flying of two planes into the WTC. "
"Somebody stop that man!"
"god told me to do it."
"Oh well in that case, damn you got me all excited for nothing..."

I personally believe in God talking to someone by working through them...

It's because the only time you hear, "God told me" or "God made me", is after horrible things. You never hear, "God made me donate to the Salvation Army", because there is good in that and it doesn't need justification. Only people that say 'That' are using it as a sheild.

Ok, so I was watching the always sexy Judge Alex, and the case was a woman who had accidentally received a $7,100 check instead of a $170 and spent it all. Her defense was this.

Defendant: Well, I saw the check and I said, "Oh Lord, I have to take this back," and the Lord said to me "Oh, no you don't. You prayed for a windfall, daughter, here it is," and I said "Lord, I don't want to go to jail," and the Lord said, "You won't go to jail. Just spend the money."

And, so when the Plaintiff called for the money back, and found out that the woman had spent it, she felt bad that the Defendant had really needed the money so she didn't press criminal charges, and only civil charges to get the money back. In the Defendant's mind, this made it clear that God had given her the money and therefore she did not have to pay it back.

Judge Alex did not see it the same way and ordered her to give the money back, and recommended that the Plaintiff press those Criminal Charges.

Strangely enough the Defendant, who had financial issues and STILL tithed $1000 to the church, at the end of the show claimed victory even though she had to pay the money back because "The Lord told me this was going to end up like this."

Seriously, this is why when people "talk to God" they are considered nuts, because there are bat-**** crazy people like this lady.

I have never heard the voice of God directly, but sometimes after a certain string of events in my life was played out, I strongly felt that God might have influenced my decions during those events in a positive way. I have never spoken to anyone who said they had heard an actual 'voice' speak to them. :)

same here...

Nah thats just coincidence and wanting to think that.

I don't need God telling me anything.

I just want to be free.

If he wants to make the world a better place he can do it himself without much effort.

Whenever I think of crazy people and religion I think of that lady on that Trading Spouses show....whatever her name is...."I'm a Chrsitian Warrior..."

Some how Christian and Warrior really don't belong in the same sentence. Chrisitians are not supposed to be fighters, nothing was ever solved satisfactorily thru violence. :)

Usually it's because that person is claiming God told them to kill some random stranger...last I checked in the Bible, ever since the coming of Christ, He kinda refrains from the kill orders.

Now if someone parted a sea/lake/ocean and then said "God told me to, then I think most people would believe him/her because they JUST PARTED A FREAKING LAKE/OCEAN/SEA!!! :o

Tell that to Saint Michael ... ;) :p

If you talk to God you're religious. If God talks to you, you're psychotic.

I'm not that familiar with the saints. :)

Ya but everyone knows Mike...Big blond archangel, fiery sword, kicked the crap outta Lucifer and tossed him into hell...that Michael...:woot:

Ah, but an Angel isn't the same as a saint. Angels are allowed to kick ass, not us humans. We're supposed to be good and let God do the fighting. :)

hence the phrase "Vengeance is mine..."

but it also says "An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth"..
