Drama Resurrection AKA The Passion of the Christ 2 (Jim Caviezel/Mel Gibson)

There's no need for a sequel to Passion of the Christ.

As someone raised Catholic, I was taught that He will rise from the dead on the third day. Of course, I never found out what happens after that third day. No do I care.

Of course this movie will have an audience (the same people who watched God's Not Dead will certainly watch this). But for the rest of us? Do we really need a sequel to this?

where did it state it was about this movie....

I don't see a problem with this. I never saw Passion of the Christ, but if they want to sequel it, far be it from me to say they shouldn't.

Family Guy predicted this, and we didn't listen.

It will be funny when they do a Bible cinematic universe and cross overs. The after credit scene will be Moses or something like that. I wonder if Russell Crowe will make a cameo as Noah.

WB adapts the more bloodier and violent old testament and Marvel Studios adapts the new testament.

A sequel to Passion of The Christ can be made. But the major draw in the first movie was all the blood and gore. I don't think I remember the stuff that happens next to be as violent as Christ's death. I guess further down the road, Mel Gibson will announce a third movie that covers revelation and it's just going to be weird apocalypse stuff for two hours.

I was with a mel gibson online fan club at the time.
I had to watch that movie three times.
With all of the gore, it was one of the toughest things that I ever did.

Jesus : This Ark ain't big enough for the two of us...

Noah : (thinks) Well actually it is.....

White dudes playing Jesus will never stop being a version of black face. lol

Joaquin Phoenix also played Jesus in a film out this year. Christian Bale. Dafoe. I still laugh at that Harvey Keitel brooklyn accent in The Last Temptation of Christ.

I honestly don't know on how Mel plans on approaching this film because unlike the Crucifixion of Jesus, there isn't much (if not any) scriptures or text that really dive into the interim period between Jesus's death and resurrection.

If "Passion" was controversial among the religious community then this film may end up bringing more controversy since the movie's plot will likely come from Gibson's point of view as a storyteller rather than being scripture based.

Trying very hard to think of how they're going to make the Resurrection some shocking narrative. I mean, it's not what you'd call an action-packed event.

Passion's appeal was its brutality and the idea that Christians had to see it to fully understand Christ's sacrifice. Churches bused their congregations to theaters to see it. And a lot of moviegoers were simply curious about it. A PG-rated rerelease that purged most of the gore was a box-office dud, nobody wanted to see it without the horrific violence.

Now, if Gibson wanted to do a movie about the founding of the Church, he'd have lots of material, as the original founders were persecuted, tortured, executed, etc. But the Resurrection by itself doesn't seem to offer a whole lot in the way of potentially "shocking" material.

Kinda surprised Cavaziel WANTS to play Christ again. The first time he did he got struck by lightning AND actually whipped on his back. Two big red flags that maybe you shouldn't be playing that character.

Eh, nothing supernatural there. If anyone, it's Gibson who should be getting struck by lightning :funny:

Caviezel was 35 when he filmed Passion - close enough to Jesus’s purported age at the Crucifixion. But Caviezel is now 50. How will they address this? I guess there could be a bit of exposition on how death and resurrection takes a lot out of a person… :thf:
