Revealing Interview With Doc Conners (Dylan Baker)

Nice.

Something we were all talking about, it's confirmed.

D!

I am extremely delighted that Dylan Baker is interested in being involved in Spider-Man 4!

So, that whole rumor about Connors helping Peter out about the black suit must be true. It was in the Q and A was it not? Either that or the plot summary.

if the lizard is in the next spidey movie he should be the ONLY villian, the whole conners/lizard dichotomy is far too complex a story line to share screen time with another villian.

also there should aim for the movie to be dark and scary which will admittedly be difficult with a 12A rating.

more complicated then Venom, or the Green Goblin????.... he's a guy that messed around with two much lizard DNA, and transformed himself into giant man lizard...... this isn't the downfall of Anakin Skywalker.... it's not that complex of a character...

Venom is not complicated. Raimi is doing him in one movie with two other villains.

Regarding the interview, all good news. Love to have the Lizard in SM-4. And it's great to hear that Baker and Molina are pals, and that Molina had a blast playing Ock.

venom's more complicated then the lizard... and that's my point... they are doing GG2 and venom in ONE movie.... something tells me the Lizard will not be the only villian.... they are not going to go from a 3 villians, down to one....

haha, good one

if it was, it would require one bad film, one okay film, and one good film... we already got two good films in the SM series.... and I have no idea what kind of point im making so I will be quiet...

I don't think Venom is more complicated than the Lizard. Brock is just a loser who loses his job and blames Spider-Man for it. The only extra baggage Venom brings is the symbiote. But that can be done, and is being done in one movie, too.

Connors is a great scientist and friend to Peter, who has a family, and tries to re-grow his missing arm using Lizard DNA. But it goes awry, and he becomes a monster.

He's a much more complex and conflicted villain, because he threatens the people he loves, and Peter has to take down a friend and family man.

Well said! I'm definitely looking forward to the Lizard.

SPIDER-MAN 4:
THE LIZARD (main villain) KRAVEN THE HUNTER (secondary villain) and ELECTRO (seperate story). With the return of DOCTOR OCTOPUS at the end.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This also gives us 4 villains who are apart of the SINISTER SIX (Doc Ock, Sandman, Electro, Kraven), I believe with each movie they should introduce 1 or 2 villains for the SIN SIX. And release the Sinister Six movie in SM6.
but, we are about to see Peter take down a friend, who is basically is family.....
The Lizard is not that good of a character to be the main villain on a movie.
He deserve to be on a movie, but I don't think would be a great movie with only him as a villain.
I'd love to see the Lizard in Spidey 4.
I believe this is correct...but I'm not sure what the policy is with the Q and A...so I won't say more.
you can also say... Connors is a loser, who has this dream about regrowing his arm... he messed around to much with DNA, and now turned into a lizard... while, Eddie is a troubled young man, who is always being upstaged by Peter Parker...... Eddie eventually gets fired due to Peter Parker, and becomes sucidal....
Eddie, then beginning god for help, is consumed by a entitie from outerspace that brings forth all the hatred he has for Peter Parker and spider-man, turning him into a creature called venom. This monster, matches or tops all of spider-mans powers, plus, knows that peter is actually spiderman due to the symbiote being one with peter in the past.
what is peter to do... Venom is stronger, and doesn't care who it takes out, and also knows the idenity of Spider-man... how can Peter take this creature out, how can peter deal with the fact that he is responsible for it's creation...
anyone can make a character more "dramatic"
couldn't have put it better myself.
a recommended read is 'the strange case of dr. jekyll and mr. hyde by Robert Louis Stevenson. a man who is brilliant and consumed by his alter ego.
lizard and dr.jekell share similar backgrounds and also comand a similar respect from their peers also add in the dynamic of his family and young son when he as to live a double life of lies and deceit which threatens to destroy the life he has worked so hard to build, venom doesn't begin to approach the lizard for complexity, also peter shares a bond as he (conners) is his mentor which will make it hard for peter to bring him to justice and expose him know it will in all likelihood finish his career.
harry is as complex as the lizard but the character has been built up over two movies.
for me at least venom and sandman are very simplistic characters with simplistic motives and as such can co-exist in on movie with harry, lizard however to have his story told properly needs his own movie.
Hell yes... we definitely gotta see the Lizard crawling around the sewers at some point in this series. Even better, it sounds like Raimi actually might already have some plans up his sleeve for more Spider-Man movies, despite what he usually says. ;)
Lizard's going to be a difficult villain to do, because we've seen many split personality types in this series... but I think the way to separate him from the pack is to make sure that Connors never "accepts" the Lizard. I'd like to see it be sort of more Hulk-like, with Connors desperately struggling to push off his next transformation, terrified of what he's becoming, as the Lizard personality slowly starts trying to take more and more control. Maybe have his first transformation be something like the Cronenberg version of The Fly, with Connors over the course of several days slowly losing hair, growing scales, sharp teeth, etc.
I never said Connors was family to Peter. I said he's a friend WITH a family. A father and husband. And he threatens that family and everyone he cares about when he becomes a villain.
Harry is Peter's BEST friend who is just after Peter for killing his father. Two completely different brands of villainy. Apples and oranges.
Connors is anything but a loser. He's made something of himself. He's a great and respected scientist. He's got friends, a family. He just made a mistake, and he didn't blame anyone else for it. He bounced back and continued to be a great scientist and family man after being the Lizard.
Brock is a useless photographer who has to fake his own photos and lie to try and make something of himself. He made his own screw ups. All his own fault. And he goes and blames everyone but himself. He is the essence of loserness.
anyone can make a character more "dramatic"
We're not talking about drama. We're talking about complicated. Brock is not complicated. He's the classic loser who blames everyone else for his own short comings.
On a side note: my bad to the purists for spelling Conners with an "e". Damn you, Ultimate! :cmad: ;)
"I’m kind of the guy that Peter Parker needs to come to whenever he has those quandaries about what’s going on,” states Baker."
That's gotta mean the black suit. I hope he helps Pete with the black suit.
thats what i think he means to. the Q&A even said that dr. connors is studying symbiote samples.
Dylan Baker is a fantastic actor, and at first I thought he was a great Dr. Connors (which he is) but I could never look at him and see him as The Lizard...but now, after seeing some more acting of his and how he wants to do the Lizard's part, then I could definately agree with using him as the main villain in SM4. I don't want him to be the only villain...maybe include Kraven (obviously) and possibly someone little like The Shocker.
CAH
Good find cmill. :up:
Anyway, if Sam Raimi actually ends up not using Lizard as a villain in the next movie, I'm throwing away the shrine in my closet.
the lizard will defenitley be in spidey4. sam probably realizes how popular the lizard is so I'm sure sam would use him as the main villian in spidey4.
