Reverse Sexism

Example: In the UK there is a car insurance company called 'Diamond' that only insure woman because they are "better drivers". This makes me so mad it's insane!!

So if a black slave hates white people, he therefore is just the same as his white master who lynches, enslaves and tortures people based on their race.
not the same, but he's still racist.

Right but your looking at this wrong. Society is not a level playing field. Certain people such as African Americans in the US and women (pretty much the world over) are disadvantaged. Therefore having a all black channel like BET or a college fund is not racism because it provides a leg up for those who start in a lower position than (in the United States case) white males. Same thing with policy that aims at poverty stricten families. It's not classism, it is simply policies that help those who traditionally have a lower status.

Hopefully, one day, everything will be determined by "the content of one's character". But for now, not everyone is subject to the same standards.

I use reverse sexism in the same scope as reverse racism. There is no such thing.
I agree there is only sexism and racism.

Yeah I hate it too! :cmad: You should see the TV advert; a bunch of girls in the back of a pink car with a kangaroo at the steering wheel? How "safe" is that?

there's also shella's wheels doing the same. statistically women have more small accidents and men are more likely to have large ones. but then why not just do it based on claims like anyone else.

I think you people have the definition of reverse racism and reverse sexism wrong.

I always thought reverse racism was when someone, instead of making a negative remark about a race, instead makes a positive but equally untrue remark.

For example - "black people are much better boxers", that's reverse racism. Isn't it? Maybe I'm wrong.

So reverse sexism would be "women are so much smarter than men".

You are correct.

All you have to do is watch almost any "funny" commercial and see sterotypical sexist attitudes against men.

Well over 80% of the time, the man is depicted as the bumbling idiot. It's also fact that well over 80% of the time this man is white.

totally.
what the hell is reverse anything?!
like "super creepy backwards bizzarro world" racism/sexism.

whether it's got a pen*s or boobs, it can still say "hey, wanna get a drink after work and talk about your promotion?" while it stares at your crotch/chest

creepsville!

Interestingly enough, 80% of the people who purchase hip-hop albums are young white males between the ages of 18 and 35.

I don't know about idiocy, but most[dare I say all?] hip-hop sucks.:o

Most of you seem to think racism is restricted to whites against blacks. That is a very narrow minded view. Their are far more races. As for sexism, as it is taught to anyone working for a fortune 500 company ( we have to take annual harrassment traing ). Sexism is not gender specific. A man can be harrassed by men or women. Just as a women can be harrassed by women or men. Sexism which is actually defined as discrimination or devaluation based on a person's sex.

Homer Simpson: I'm a white male aged 18-45. EVERYONE listens to me, no matter how stupid my suggestions are. *pulls out can of Nuts and Gum*

Just once I wish a woman would put her hand on my lap and say I'm not using all my assets or comment how nice my ass looks in my outfit.

I'm sure it happens...

Just not to this group of fine comic book fans.

That's so true...it happends to me all the time, especially where I used to work.

It used to really bother me to be honest. I avoid older people now, like a plague. I think I have developed a phobia of old people.
you sound like a lot of my friends who are scared to wonder into town on the weekend because all the locals are around and they are (or at least were) of a working maturer age...

I experienced sexism from a female teacher when I was a college student. I was an education major and was sent to a junior high school to observe a teacher with her class for a semester. From the moment I arrived, she made me feel as welcome as a flu virus. She made lots of sexist comments in class and had some sayings posted around her room. One was "Of course women dont work as hard as men. We do it right the first time." Another was "In 1492, Columbus went looking for Asia and found America. Typical man. He wouldnt ask for directions."

Another time, we were discussing TV commericals and a student mentioned one that featured a woman in spandex working out as a man read off insurance rates. It ended up with the man saying to "pump up your portfolio." She turned to the class and asked "We should ask Mr Sippel if he knows about this commercial." I smiled and said, "Yes, I remember that one." She rolled her eyes and said, "Typical red blooded American man."

Did you do or say anything about it?

I told my supervisor at my college and she said it was inappropriate, but that was it. I didnt do well during the whole experience (mostly because the junior high teacher and I were always bickering) so my supervisor was more concerned with my experience than with the teacher. She said I would have to do the field experience again or do almost perfectly in the next levels of experience. Thats when I changed majors.
