Anyone here gonna rewatch the first four X-Movies? I will before I watch X-Men: First Class. Wolverine first then X1 then X2 and finally X3.

I also do this with other movie franchises that I watch. I at least watch the previous sequel before I watch the new one and when I watch the movie, I'm like oh yeah I remember that from the other movie.

And I haven't seen the first X-Movies since the Holidays so :woot:

To see how continuity is non-existant with these films...

X-Men and X2 are the only ones relvent to first Class. My advice IS after you watch
First Class watch X-Men and X2 and then stop.

my advice is dont watch any of the previous movies.

I think this way we'll enjoy the prequel more.

because we wont have constant thoughts about what we saw some days ago.

just my opinion.

It might be interesting to watch them afterwards, but not a good idea to put other images/storylines/performances into your head right before watching First Class.

I'm going to sulk; I don't care how they do it, but they better get Gambit in at some point in a sequel/prequel. His own movie would be even better.

I own all the 3 X-movies, haven't bought Wolverine yet, but I might sometime soon. I'm not sure if I'm going to watch them before... I don't even know if I'm going to watch First Class. It all depends on the trailer...

Well I'm going to rewatch the movies before seeing XFC

I like to make comparisons

I've never tried that before, but I think I'm going to watch X1-X3 back-to-back. Skipping Wolverine and skipping the first scene in X3 though. Eh...maybe I'll wait.

You might be better just to watch X-Men and X2.

When First Class hits Blu-ray/DVD I suspect many will now watch first Class/X-Men/X2
as trilogy.

I rewatch Wolverine the most times... X1 and 2 are good... but I can't watch X3 again for whatever reason...

Ill rewatcht the first 3. Wolverine however is a no. Havent seen it yet and dont plan on it.

I watch all of em......with all there faults, X3 and Wolverine do have a certain charm to them.......

...I'll probably watch all 4 after FC......even though Wolverine is consider out of continuity (has it been officially said its out of continuity?, or is that just the fanboys....) I'll still give it a watch now and then...

I'll watch the first two because they were Bryan's films the other two can suck it! :p

I agree with you.I own them all but now with what we know X-Men and X2 are the only
ones that can be watched with First Class

All the films are ignoring WOlverine.Deadpool and The Wolverine are as well. The Last Stand may be Ignored as well.Inless they are simply reconning things out of exsistance like the opening scene and Moira Mactaggert.I prefer to simply pretend The Last Stand
Is out of contunity with Wolverine.

Not only is FC probably getting a sequel but X2 also ended with a cliffhanger so it wouldn't be a really good way to end a trilogy.

You have a good point however certain things from First Class makes it hard to watch
The Last Stand with the others. And If X4 moves forward and Is made I strongly suspect
they will not address certain things that went down In The Last Stand especilly Is Bryan
Singer directs.

i remember reading that if first class does good, which im sure it will, fox already has an idea for an x4 that leads into an x5...i just wonder what they could do to move the story forward after what happened in x3? i almost wish they would retcon x3 and remake it and try to get as many as the original actors back under bryan singers version of after x2. i want to rewatch the x-men films but if i were to stop at x2 like some have suggested it just isnt right...its more of a cliffhanger ending not just with jean but magneto too. bryan singer has done this once before with superman returns so i dont kno why they wouldnt try to remake it. if the story is dramatically different i dont kno why some of the actors would be against it.
BUT if they dont remake it and make an x4 and 5 then i'll accept it...maybe they could release a version of x3 that could have an alternate opening or something filmed for it (highly doubtful) to fit in with first class

I think they should just make an X-Men 4, not ignore X-Men 3 and just deal with the things that happened in X-Men 3. If they want to bring back Jean, Professor X and Cyclops, they just need to make a story about it. No need to ignore X3.

there are plenty of ways they could make another x-men after x3...BUT there are some glaring failures about that film because of how first class sets things up. there are so many things that i feel first class and its inevitable sequels will contradict that both x3 and wolverine tried doing something different with. i own both and have enjoyed them but it seems like this new approach with first class and its characters which we will be getting more time with in will just fuel the writers to take liberties where they feel are necessary for their stories in regards to where x1 and x2 went with the characters. i have a strong feeling that if first class is going to retcon things that were done in anything made after x2 its very possible we might end up getting different takes on where sabretooth came from and how he was recruited to the brotherhood and possibly his relation to wolverine before we see his character, maybe a different take on stryker that would involve his son, and i could even see them bringing in juggernaut as a non-mutant and a relative to xavier like the comics.
im not one of those people that will bash x3 because of brett ratner, the only things i hold against him for that film is cutting scenes that should never have been cut (juggernaut getting wolverines blades through his arm, the extended phoenix destruction at the end, having rogue get rid of her powers, not showing the first reveal of magnetos lair and a few others). i think the people that wrote this film should have looked to bryan singer and what his vision was going to be for that film and adapt it with him possibly producing seeing as he pretty much started the franchise. an x4 would probably be a good thing to try and do, i just think the only reason to remake x3 would be to make a better film. hell, if they could reincorporate scenes from the last stand id be all for it.

the things i think that were unwise to do in movies made after x2 were to try to show xavier walking but bald and friends with magneto because thats such a big deal and yet they were just throwing it in there just to try and say 'hey look this is kinda cool' and the same thing goes for wolverine. i can overlook emma frost being in that film cuz shes not really anything more than a one-shot cameo and i could pretend its a different character. same thing with deadpool, i dont mind that take on the character. the thing that bothers me a little is the difference in wolverines origins then the way it was portrayed in x2. those flashbacks should have been reshot shot for shot to match up with the sequel. in that film stryker even was depicted as having glasses yet he doesnt in the origins film. and sabretooths look should have been more reminiscent of his look in x1. his claws, eyes, hair...it should have matched even just a little.
if an x4 is made, its not like you can just ignore x3 because magneto and rogue are both powerless, xavier, jean and cyclops are all dead and it just would be a hard film to ignore if they continue on. it would have to continue on and try to be more creative then its predecesor but i just think an effort shoudl at least be attempted for a talented director with the way bryan singer would have ended the trilogy to be pitched to the actors from the first 2 and see if they would be willing to come back. im not going to expect it to happen but its not like singer hasnt done something similar to that in the past. companies are used to rebooting the characters and franchises so it wouldnt be a far shot to try, but i dont think there has ever been a film that has had an installment remade with the same actors that cuts out a previous version. itd be neat so see it done and would give a future x4 or beyond more to work with. i dont think the studio would kill xavier or cyclops and i think cyclops would become more important instead of it revolving around wolverine. wolverines cool and all but she loves scott.

Forgot to add Generation X...(I have a copy)..........it doesn't matter to me, whats in continuity or not (I'm kinda in the camp, if your gonna retcon/contradict things from X3 you might as well do it for X1 & X2, because really you can...but I'd like to have X1-X3 in continuity, I'll give you guys ignoring Wolverine though...doesn't mean I won't watch it/enjoy it to a degree...).....but I'll watch them in this order:

Generation X - X-Men - X2: X-Men United - X-Men: THe Last Stand - X-Men Origins: Wolverine

I've already seen the trilogy and Wolverine a while back, I need to check out Gen X again......hopefully before friday...

i thought there were things that were executed well in x3, but there was just too much for the little bit of timing we got. the studio should have at least tried pulling off more of what singer wanted for that film to become. the directing was fine from a visual standpoint but there was way too much of a focus and need of cgi to be implemented for that film. took me out of it too many times. i still like it but there will always be things i wish they would have just either didnt do or did differently. its highly unlikely this matter will ever be compromised and attempted differently but it sure would be amongst the best stuff to happen for a movie series that is still obviously kicking. i just wish the focus of the movie had been more on phoenix and not just her siding with magneto. it weakened the character to just stand there in the background. its just so much more cheesy when the previous 2 were so intent on making such a seriously cool comic film where as x3 just felt rushed and put out to make a buck. superman returns would have been worth it if they would have made a better film but i just wish fox would have allowed singer to do it when he got done with that film.

I just watched the 4 movies yet again this week! With Wolverine being the 1st and X3 being the last.

When I have the XFC in DVD, its going to be the 2nd X-Film that will watch during my X-Movies marathon days.
