Richard Donner is loved but underrated as well.

He's a very good director, but to say he's underrated is ridiculous. If anything, he's overrated.

Donner is from the old school of directing; don't rush everything, let the scenes play out, give the actors space to breathe, make sure the story flows properly, don't call attention to yourself.

90% of modern day directors should be sent to work under Donner and learn how it's done properly.

I think "Sam & George" is his next project.

That has been his next project for like 5 yrs!

I kinda agree. I have nothing against a director having style. Thats why I like Leone, Kubrick, Burton, etc.

Yes, Richard Donner is, indeed, underrated.

Absolutely, an artist has to express themself. But you learn how to hold the brush properly first, then paint in your own style.

You know what Donner gets no credit for? Including George Harrison in the Lethal Weapon 2 soundtrack.

^What was this, his first movie? Sammy Davis Jr.'s the greatest.
