The Answer: a Q-tip! ;)

Here's a riddle for you:

I am just two and two,
I am hot, I am cold.
I am the parent of numbers that cannot be told.

A decisive action,
a matter of course,
But I'm not given with pleasure
when taken by force.

What am I? Give me the answer.

A man was found murdered on Sunday morning. His wife immediately called the police. The police questioned the wife and staff and got these alibis:
The Wife said she was sleeping.
The Cook was cooking breakfast.
The Gardener was picking vegetables.
The Maid was getting the mail.
The Butler was cleaning the closet.

The police instantly arrested the murdered. Who did it and how did they know?

A man stands before a portrait and says, "Sons and brothers, I have none, but this person's father is my father's son."

Who is in the portrait?

HINT:
It isn't a portrait of himself!

I meant by the amount of replys. Especially since in the riddle it stated No sons or brothers.

What can be put into a barrel, that can be seen with the naked eye, and makes the barrel lighter (weight-wise)?

WTF? ******* got censored in one of my jokes in the JOTD thread.
Whatever.

What two coins makes thirty cents, but a nickel cannot be one of them?

Corinthian got it, sort of.

It's a Nickel and a Quarter.

Get it?

A nickle cannot be ONE of them.

ok..

I knew it.. it's like one old question...

Elmer Johnson went to the hardware store to make a purchase for his house. He asked the store clerk, "How much will one cost?" The clerk thought for a moment and said, "Three dollars." Elmer Johnson, who looked a little puzzled said, "Well then, how much will twelve cost?" "Six dollars," replied the clerk. Elmer Johnson scratched his head and said, "If I were to purchase two hundred, how much would that cost?"
"That," said the clerk, "will cost you nine dollars."
What was Elmer Johnson buying?

There are two coins. Coin A and Coin B. One of them cannot be a nickel.

Coin A is a nickel, Coin B is a quarter. Therefore, Coin B (one of the 2 coins) is not a nickel.

hope that clears things up.

BTW your question's got me stymied.
