🇺🇸 Ridin’ with Biden: It's Joever

US News
I wonder how Harris would fare internationally.

One good thing about Biden is that he's done well among Western leaders. He's commanded an impressive degree of obedience from countries such as Germany and Italy. At the same time he's been a train wreck among the global majority, he's a joke in Asia and Africa.

It's hard for me to predict how Harris would do. It could go either way in both cases. If she does well her multiethnic origins and her being a woman could be a boon for American soft power, but that may also be a double edged sword.
I find it hard to believe she would break things worse than Trump. :(

She would dance our cares away!

If TikTok wasn't a hot button issue, I could see Kamala being the first POTUS making presidential TikToks. :o

Huh. My Crohn's nurse at my infusion right after the debate said Biden reminded her of a Parkinson's patient in terms of his speech, mannerisms, etc. during the debate. Which seems pretty spot-on actually:

10 Early Signs

And now the news that Biden's physician regularly consults a Parkinson's specialist.

So Michael J. Fox endorsement?

I have no problem with anything that encourages young folks to care more about their political leaders so they get out and vote.

Gosh, there has to be a solution outside Biden/Harris. Always imagined the US would have much more impressive candidates.

I don't know if the decent candidates are too afraid, don't want the job, or just don't exist. :(

I want damages from Hollywood for massively misrepresenting the speaking skills of presidents with their movie versions. The next major film featuring a fictional US president I want to see them fluffing their lines, falling asleep, farting in court etc.

That can't work because we like to believe in the fantasy of effective systems, a lot of viewers and critics treat movies as being better if they show the system working, for example Contagion or The West Wing.

As a counterexample, in the Revenge of the Sith there was a line, "this is how liberty dies, to thunderous applause", I remember people went on, and on, about what a stupid line that was, because they deemed it unrealistic.

Obama is still the best speaking President of my lifetime, IMO.

Yeah....Obama was very, very good. Bill Clinton was definitely in that category and I think an argument could be made for either. Bill Clinton could make people feel like he was talking directly to them and understood their issues. Barack was an organizer and pushed hope and a better future. Different styles, but both very, very effective.

Right now, I think the person who may be in that league is Pete Buttigieg. The guy is so, so intelligent and consistently comes off as the grownup in the room. He's a very impressive orator. Being gay brings political baggage, but at some point, people just have to get over it. It's along the same lines as being female, black, or anything other than a straight, white guy.
