OK, I've gone through the whole thread and it seems this whole debacle is nothing but a textbook case of chopping off the entire hand for a small itch in your finger. And it wasn't even a real itch. And reading what happened, I love the reasons why WHF was banned. Sure, he was a bit rebellious when it came to dealing with the mods because of his shaky history, but he generally stayed in line. Last I saw, both him and GFreeman were on their best behaviour since when I started posting in the Games forum 4 years ago. But if this place has devolved into a Nazi prison camp where anyone who dares stand up against authority is executed for being "problematic", well, suffice it to say that the current moderators don't really know how to properly handle things like this. And isn't it about time a proper and sensible gaming forum regular gets to be in charge of this section like hippie hunter, Isildur's Heir or maybe even Zenien? It's getting tiresome constantly seeing Community and other forum mods flexing their muscles pver here and screwing everything up instead of properly bandaging the situation.

I understand that, but just deleting it without saying anything else got a much larger/worse reaction than you would have gotten had you at least said "it's not permanent."

There WAS a warning. It was met last night with a drunken rant from WHF coupled with Freeman throwing fuel into the fire of that thread.

Sorry, I'm a bit late on this...but it seems as though everyone has been banned. Is it just the GR ppl or is the whole gaming forum getting a timeout? I made an account on GR just in case...but I think I'll wait for more ppl to join. I'm sure many of them have wanted to slit my throat around one time or another.

I think it would have happened with any mod on board. It's pretty much the main reason why I support the idea of a regular being the mod for the Games forum.

That's because posters react well to a friend, a fellow sub-community poster telling them to keep it down rather than the "big guy" threatening to send them away to banville.

In my honest opinion, I think you should unban WHF and DRT, give a gaming forum regular who knows other posters well (enough how to handle them) the charge of this place and see what happens (again, hippie hunter and Zenien are possible choices). Because only then would it seem like the mods really giving this place an honest chance. If things go south even after that, then I'd gladly support any direction the SHH! mods would take.
