What I meant was like say if a cop stops you, question you, and may even act like you are a bad person. You don't argue with the cop, you don't act aggressive with the cop. Rather, you obey the cop, you treat the cop with respect, you do what they tell you. I don't think if you are like that, you will get cuffed by cops or assaulted by cops! Certainly not killed by them for no reason!

At no point, you should prove the cop half right. Since cops are usually very judgmental line of people, even when you argue with a cop they may judge you are not co-operating with the law.


I think this may be what happened with these journalists, they might argued with the cops.

I dealt with them before, you just say "I am sorry, won't do it again" they usually let you off!


Am I wrong? Are there many of you people done TOTALLY NOTHING wrong, not even argued with the cop, and got assaulted or arrested?

Here is the problem with your theory. The cops aren't allowed to break the law either. They can't tell anyone to stop recording them. They can't walk into a Mike D's and decide they want to clear it because journalist are using it as a base. They can't just tear gas a reporter's setup because they don't want them filming.

It is not about knowing how to treat the media. What they are doing is in fact against the law. It amazes me how you like to downplay the cops' criminal activity, but love to trump up social media pictures as potential criminal activity. It is bizarre.

And the last sentence. That is why they are trying to get rid of the media and their cameras. To avoid it getting out to the world.

It does if you think your superiors won't actually punish you. That is exactly how a power trip works. They think themselves above the law. And really, you don't think that makes sense? This isn't a new thing. There is a history of hostility towards media from police.

Streets are empty, they shoot gas and rubber bullets right at the Al Jazeera crew and then they start breaking down their equipment.

Also, if these cops don't know what they are doing is illegal, they shouldn't be cops.

I edited the post for more clarity to my point. And the rest of the post? Are you simply going to ignore it. Because there is actual proof right there that your point is clearly faulty.

Also, the cops were doing this when they didn't think the world was watching. Once they realized the world was watching, they handed over the control of keeping the peace to other law enforcement. So clearly they realized this was an issue.

I don't think it makes sense when the world is watching, police will show themselves to be law-breakers, and willingfully showing that ugly side to the world. But you do.


On the other hand, I think it makes perfect sense a criminal can do dumb things like ran toward the officer like a bull. But you don't.

Once again, watching the live coverage, it's only when a protester THROW something at the police to cause the police to attack back! CLEARLY!!!

They don't attack the protesters for NO REASON! Despite some of the protesters will lie or ignorantly say that wasn't the case.


I am sorry, protest peacefully does not mean you throw something at the police!!!

I side with the police, they were clearly provoked by some protesters don't know how to act!

I'd also like to point to out that it doesn't actually matter if the "world watches".

The NYPD had an officer choke a man to death, and kill him in public, and it was recorded.

And nothing happened to that officer.

FYI, Dallas County has decided to be pre-emptive about it. Dallas County District Attorney Craig Watkins has formed an independent committee to investigate police shootings. Tonight he had a forum with Dallas PD Chief David Brown and Dallas County Sheriff Lupe Valdez to discuss this. Brown says that there will be 200 body cameras on Police officers, but the Police officers themselves want a few thousand. The police also don't think that the team that Watkins has created should be independent and should be with the police that investigate the shootings and an FBI agent that is a part of the team. The team still has to be approved by Dallas County Commissioners, where one of them made news recently.

BTW, Watkins, Brown and Valdez are all minorities.
